Hello guys. A fellow user on a different forum refered me to this website.

I want to buy a green laser pointer for fun. But I'm not sure what to get.

I heard of the site DealExtreme. I am really interested in buying from there because:

1. Free shipping worldwide: I live in Poland

2. Lasers are cheap

I am currently looking at the 50mW one. I think anything more will be too much.
DealExtreme: $20.90 True 50mW Green Laser Pointer Pen Black

What do you guys think? What should I get? I don't want anything too expensive.

Thanks!

BudgetGadgets offers a Green Laser that comes in 30mW, 50mW, and 100mW. I purchased the 50mW a few months ago, and it works great. You can see the beam it emits IN A WELL LIT ROOM, and perfectly in the dark or night sky. It can also put holes in thin, black plastic (garbage or shopping bags).
$23.86 New Keychain Green Beam Laser Pointer Pen Flashlight 30mW/50mW - BudgetGadgets.com
You have a choice of different outputs like I said before, and a choice of battery it comes with. It runs on one CR2, but you should get a rechargable if you do not want to waste your money every few weeks. In total, the price should be around 35 US Dollars, and they have free worldwide shipping.
It is a bit pricy, but the laser is VERY durable, (I have dropped mine multiple times on concrete) and the 50mW does emit what it says it does.

Hope this helps,

Hey, I was thinking about getting that exact laser. I'm probably going to get the 50mw now that you say that (I was going to get 30mw). You're from Wisconsin too? Awesome :p How long did it take to ship?

[edit] Yeah, just bought it :D

Geez, it's like a Wisconsin reunion in here.... Lake Geneva, myself!

Not to scare you, but I went the rounds with Budget Gadgets last year and was sorely disappointed in their products, their 50mW lasers generally tested in the 20-35mW range, their 200mW lasers (IIRC I bought 3 of them for resale) were all under 100mW - not to say they weren't neat little lasers but really, if getting the advertised power is important to you as well as quality service and price, you can't go wrong with Susie at O-like.com or Faona at Rayfoss.com.

I also offer free laser power testing to LPF members, if any of you guys are interested.

I fully endorse BCM and his laser power testing! Great guy all around!
(I still need to send him my Viper75 and GGW >.> )
As for buying your first laser. Really.. unless you build it yourself.. you kinda get what you pay for. If you buy a CNI or equiv it will outlast a cheap ebay pointer by far. I suggest you build your own! jayrob has a really good green laser DIY kit (if you want a greenie). IIRC BCM is putting together some green lasers? Look around the B/S/T section or get in on one of the group buys, you wont be disapointed.

Just to warn you, thats how it started for me. I ordered a low power green laser pen off of eBay for like 8 bucks just for my cats to play with. And a couple of months later I have spent well over 1000 on lasers and spend hours a day playing with them and building new ones. Lasers a great fun but an be addicting!

I know what you're saying, MW - literally, this is a shot of the lasers that were in my work truck this AM when I cleaned it out ... I wish I still had my first DPSS green 5mW I bought quite awhile back for $250! Welcome to the hobby, Amigo and YES that's a $3000 half-watt handheld in the photo!
