I don't see any reason a cheap Chinese laser diode/module retailer would somehow get their hands on a 532nm diode. This most likely is a DPSS laser module.

That's just a clever compact design for a dpss. Good that 532 has gotten to this stage where that is possible.

Can't help but wonder how badly it mode hops. It is probably a terrible module considering its size.

Yes, it seems a just bit bigger than diode, so not much space for all DPSS stuff. Seems to me there is no output optics at all.

My best guess is it is all inside the diode structure, excluding the driver. Optics are set and not adjustable. I personally wouldn't buy one even to see how it is put together.

Well, if there is optics inside, it is even worse - smaller cavity. Still for kind of use like starshower (that christmass laser lighting) it might find its purpose. Seems to be cheap and mass produced, nothing too complicated. If not now than in quite near futrure I guess. I read there should be 50 mW module inside the starshower light.

It would be pretty cool if they made a 532 diode. May be the most widely used and most popular wavelength for pointers but I still like that color.

Plenty of space in there for a small bonded Nd:YVO4/KTP set. :beer:Lots of crystal sets out there that are ~1mm x ~1mm x ~3mm, some are a little smaller and some are a little bigger.

Sure. Even if they only used the divergence lens in the output to leave it to the end user to select the convergence lens, there's plenty of room in there. Could be using a small 250 mW 808nm pump diode and crystal set with one or two lenses.

Might not even be any lenses in there! :p

Output window just looks like it's just an IR filter?

How small is it actually, like a 5.6 mm can?

Could be somewhat interesting as you could put it in an aixiz module and use a lens of your choice to focus the output that way.
