Need Some help

Hey guys I have a question for you cuz you know much more about lasers than me. I had bought an 100mW laser but it works at full power for 1 minute than the ray fades and the laser body heats. If I let the laser to cool down a few minutes, the beam is strong again but for a short time. Is that normal ? Anyway I`ve sent the laser back for warranty.

You do not show us the model of the laser.

MOST "pointers" are only designed for very short burns (<30 seconds)

They do not have the needed heat sinking to pull the heat away from the diode or crystals

If you need long burn times, get a lab-style laser

I`ve noticed that the laser fades after 2 minutes in such way that a 1mW cheap laser is 10 times stronger ! And even if the greelaser beam is weak, the body continues to heat.

This laser is very expensive in my country and is considerd "high-end"

When daguin asked about the laser model, most likely he was asking for a link to the website you bought it from. Most pen type lasers look very similar to that.

As he said though, all pen type pointers have short duty cycles (For example on 30 seconds, off 2 minutes). If it's starting to get warm in your hand, imagine how hot the diode is getting. Yours does sound a bit dodgy though, probably shouldn't warm up that quickly.

Lol at the "plough" batteries

I used brand new Duracell batteries with it and had the same behaviour. I think is a deal extreme laser.
Yesterday It came back form producer, they told me that will be replaced but surprize, it was the SAME LASER !!! So, I sent the laser back and I asked for my money return. They tried to trick me... I`ll buy other laser from another seller.

Oh and I said heat not warm... Very heated !
