Im in the US. And ohhhh I shouldn't? are 18650 batteries readily available in stores or am I going to have to order it? Oh and it also requires me to pick a battery and charger to order it, that's kinda strange

i completely agree with livinloud, if possible do not order batteries with it. you could probably pm Max the guy who owns lazerer if you could order it without batteries. you can always order batteries from somewhere else.

It doesnt require you. I remember now. Pick the charger and battery option that costs nothing since if you dint pay for it, it wont ship. You can order boh the batteries and charger off ekbay or bamazon. 18650s are really popular batteries. Let me know if you need a battery or charger suggestion.

Ok, I'll buy the batteries from ebay or something, or if you can recommend one. And I'm still kind of worried because there were a few bad reviews about Lazerer recently, is Max just busy or something? I actually PMed him today to make sure everything would go well

first off i wouldnt get the glasses on lazerer's site. go to the yellow link in my signature and check out the safety section for glasses that are good. as far as batteries go, id stick with the 18650, since as stated on the site 1x 16340 reduce the power output greatly. for 18650s id get of THESE. Panasonic's are very good for 18650's and thats what i have (the 2900mAh version). the higher mAh, the longer the battery will last so that choice is up to you

So the glasses wouldn't be good enough using it with the 50mW? And do those batteries come with chargers? because it doesn't say anything other than they're rechargeable.

oh sorry those dont come with a charger. id recommend buy the nitecore i2 or i4 from illumination supply. its $10 & $15 respectively but it will litterally be the last charger you will ever buy. does 18650, 16340, 18350, 26650, 14500, 10400, AA, AAA, and C just to name a few. its also a smart charger to protect against over charging and hazards like that. you can find them HERE. I promise it is 1000 times better than the crap chargers you get when you buy a laser. also you can get sanyo or sony 18650s or if you want you can always get ultrafire 18650's but keep in mind they are not the same quality as panasonic, sanyo or sony. they are also not the mAh advertised. rule of thumb is take the advertised mah of ultrafires and cut it in half for the real mAh. this is why i recommend panasonic since they are great quality and will last you longer.

as for glasses, i am a strong believer that over protection is important when it comes to eyes. we only have 2 for all of our life! the ones on lazerer may or may not be adequate for 50mW but keep in mind, you will probably get the laser bug and this wont be your only laser. with that in mind, id get a good pair of glasses that will cover stronger powers, i.e. eagle pair glasses or at minimum the uvex ones.

finally just a reminder, 532nm are DPSS thus give off both 532nm and 1064nm (IR) which is very harmful to the naked eye. the glasses lazerer sells dont protect against IR and nor do the uvex. the eagle pair HERE do protect against IR and will also cover 190-540nm so if you expand to a 445 or 405 then your covered. only thing it doesnt cover is red wavelengths :(

any more questions just keep asking :)

Thank you for all the info. I was thinking about getting the uvex ones. Do you know if any of the ones from o-like are good, or the t-rex ones from lazerer?

o-like is a rip off, they say eagle pair on them but they are not. go with survival laser if you get eagle pairs, they have both a USA and international store. t-rex glasses ive heard some bad things about. id pick the uvex over either of those sites any day but ALL i wear is eagle pairs until i can afford a pair of $150 thor labs glasses. $50 for eye protection is CHEAP compared to $5000 eye surgery or worst, loss of vision!

Oh alright, so I think I'll order the laser and the uvex glasses tonight. Maybe I'll do a review when I get it
