As you know my laser should come in these days, and I have read one comment of costumer, here:

"SOLUTION: I am running mine off of 3 AAA alkaline batteries and it is drawing about 800mA, that's about *80mW* light output! It is INCREDIBLY bright and has unbelievable range."

So my question, is that safe way to get more power of laser by adding one more battery?
Thanks & Merry Christmas...

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

Did i get the point in?

If you are talking about a regular green pointer that is about the dumbest thing you could do (The only thing dumber would be to do it with a red pointer, but i wont go there)

Doing that, in short, can kill the diode immediately. Thats not even taking into account for how you will kill the long-term lifetime of the laser diode.

These things are rated for no more than 3.4 volts of electricity. By adding an extra Alk you can go from 3 Volts to 4.5 Volts and that could have pretty horrible effects.

Bottom line: DONT do it. For the amount of power you get in addition it is simply not worth it when you consider KILLING your relatively expensive laser as a posslbe factor.

Play it safe.... dont be tempted to add MORE POWER because that likely does nothing but bad.

If you want increased battery life get rechargeable NiMh batteries (Easily found on ebay) and order them. Ebay sells 4 AAA 1800 mAh batteries for no more than $12 including shipping. Buy them-longer battery lifetime plus hey are afe and cost effective :)
