here are some quick pics of my greenie that was <5mW and is now probably around 30mW or so ( cuts electrical tape with optics and light's matches with sharpie dot) i need to put it in a host and add some kind of focusing ring so i can focus on-the-fly but what i changed was i upped the batts from 2x aaa to 3x Li aaa and lowered the resistance of the pot to the lowest setting. also are my estimations on the power correct?

From 5mw to cuts electrical tape with optics and light's matches with sharpie dot!

WOW man if that lasts more then a week im gonna eat a pie!

Anyways dude, that is alot more power if that diode and crystals can handle that they must of underpowered it alot.

(or you bought a freak)

Wait, it's possible to light matches with 30 mW?

How?

Of course.....
Just use a magnifying glass to get all that beam energy to the smallest point... ::)

Your being sarcastic of course.

Really, how is it done? Is there an additional lens accessory to buy?

no just like lasersbee said with a magnifying glass, or in my case i took a cap off of a chap stick and drilled a hole in it then glued a small lens to it and it fits perfectly to the end. plus ive never measured it i'm only guessing its 30mW plus it is a freak B/C i figured it would fail after a week..but i've had this one for almost a year now

Where did you get a nice small magnifying glass that fits nicely on top of a Chap Stick cap?

The one I got from the store is too big.

I don't think that you can get magnifying glasses that small, but you can order a collimating lens from Nova, or or get an Ebay laser and take it apart. Either way, it's about 11$.

you won't light a match unless it have dark head with 30mW. I have the true DX30mW and it can't... (yes, I know how to use a magnifing glass)
