Is my laser mode hopping?

I turned my laser on, and this happened:


Is it mode hopping? I'm pretty sure it's not normal...

EDIT: Okay, I put it on YouTube, but it screwed up the file for some reason :confused: I hope you get the idea though, the yellow dot and semi-halo is the laser.

Yep thats modehopping! Look at the review in my signature theor you can find multiple examples of mode hopping!

It is the 517mW peak 532nM review!

^Agreed.. The output is shifting its position / 'widening', and in turn this affects where the beam
hits the expander.

In your laser the shift is putting part of the beam onto the edge of the expander and now
the output is hitting the edge of some internal part of the module giving that glare
on the side.

An old video of mine shows this a little better than I can explain it..
