MGL-F-532 2.8W(A.K.A The Monster)
To all those who have been waiting in anticipation the Monster has finally arrived and with it another high powered 532 unit to join LPF members! With the help of diachi I managed to get this unit set-up and working properly. I would like to mention a few things however. I originally had no clue how to get this unit running as I was expecting a Plug-&-Play system, however this PSU and system was an AnalogOEM set-up and I was stumped. Starting to become sad I reached out to diachi who informed me of other ways to get this thing going and we ended up using....... 3 C2's batteries to power a $1,200 laser! Yay :crackup: Seriously though, I am glad we have the helpful members we do or can easily help others with problems they aren't familiar with. Now, this unit is rated to produce 2.8W's at 5V of power. With 3 C2's im pushing around 4.5V but this unit is still plenty powerful as you'll see below.
I took a couple of daytime shots(with iPhone 6) showing the laser, safety label and most importantly the beams! The brighter ones are with fog which really isn't needed for such a powerful laser honestly but wanted to try it anyway. The brightness on this thing is insane and it dosen't quite justify it with the cell phone camera and aluminum but believe me, it is! The beam is visible in mid-day in a lighted room and becomes stunning in the dark, almost like a solid line of 532 particles flying in a straight line! Now this particular model is the F model from CNI, which if you didn't know sits right between the smaller FN model and bigger N model. This particular unit is used for power levels of 1.5W-2.5W of 532nm so I have the highest powered unit in this group, pretty exciting!
Now, this was just to quickly give a resume, not so much a review. Enjoy this beast which may look harmless at first but you better back away when it awakes!
