I can't contain my excitement anymore, I need to let some of it off on the forums! :D

I purchased for $1,200 a essentially brand new CNI lab unit. Which one? This beast!

Which output? 2.5W's! Yes, you heard me right. 2.5W's of 532, not mW's. The original seller described appropriately: "It's so bright you can barely look at the dot on the wall" :cool: This particular unit peaks at 2.8W's so almost 3W's of freakin' 532! Do you hear me??? 2.8W's of 532!

My brightest laser was a 500mW 532 so this thing will be insane and will easily dwarf all previous 532's I've owned.

Hoping to see some night time beamshots. I'd also like to see a nighttime beamshot from a hundred meters or so to the side.

I think you've graduated to lightsaber type beams Alex! Just imagine that in some fog. Oh dear........if it's in fog I can imagine you would be able to see the beam with goggles on.

The reality of it will be different than the imaginings about it as always is the case, but it will be very very bright.

Will appear to be about 2X the brightness of your 500mW, 532nm and more solid looking beam.

The 3 most important things in running it indoors are laser goggles, laser goggles, and laser goggles--be very careful running it.

Thanks Encap. Of course, safety is priority #1 with any lasers, especially with lasers these powerful. :)

Oh man you even got me excited to see near 3 WATTS of 532nm ! I have a shortcut to this thread on my desktop now !

Thinking about your new laser make me think back to 15 or so years ago here in las vegas, Las Vegas Hilton use to have 4 lasers that would shoot out from a central point near the front of the casino entrance at nearly parallel to the ground but they were raised up about 20 feet, They would shoot out in 3 beams about 20 degrees from each other and across the town until they hit the mountains in the far distance ! I remember they had very low divergence and you could clearly see the dots on the mountains which were pretty dang small !

I don't know why they got rid of them but it might have something to do with increased car accidents because anywhere you ended up driving under the clearly visible beam they were quite a dissection from the road in front of you !

Oh I just read here "Multiple pilot complaints led the FAA to issue a 1995 halt order for all outdoor casino laser displays"

Put a little, not a lot, just a little smoke or fog machine fog in the room and stir the air so it's blended in, then you will get some clean but fantastic looking beam pics. ;)
