The simplest answer without any insulting:

You cannot.

If 5 mW lasers could be modded to be much more powerful, nobody would make or buy more expensive, powerful lasers anymore.

You probably figured we're not all much of a fans of pointing out something THAT obvious, hence the posts above mine.

You are correct, I must apologize for my earlier answer. I find that thread just so funny that I forget that whatever limited knowledge of lasers I have came from the people on this forum that took the time and effort to help me and not be insulting. If you ever need anything pm me and I'll try and help to the best of my ability. As you can see from my signature,I am also very new at this. If you can forgive me for my ignorance, it won't happen again.

You can do it by reversing the polarity of the neutron flow in the prematured supercockery. Make sure the tarapy tapioc doesn't lose the contact with the diode as if it was antain with offjerking to the right.

I don't know what these guys are telling you. :p
All you need to do is extract the module and turn the pot (little silver screw thing) until you have a paperweight! Then we have one less idiot with a laser to worry about!

Good day!

Ok so your new here, you should start by reading some stickies around here on the forum, and remember safety first! so before you focus on burning etc get some safety gogles specific to the wavelength to your laser, alot of your questions are somewhere in the forum and have already been answerd before so have a good look around.

Anyway alot of the 5mW lasers are overspec and can put out anything from 5mW to 100mW in some cases, so keep in mind it may damage your eyes easier than what you think a 5mW would, for burning - have you tried using a magnifying glass and focusing it on black paper or plastic , as for wicked lasers they are not that reputable around here. see this http://laserpointerforums.com/f65/33-reasons-not-buy-wicked-lasers-56289.html
You should have a look in the buy/sell/trade section and PM a builder before buying from WL

I would not agree with 33 Reasons thread, not anymore. That *was* 4 years ago, after all. Wicked has come a long way since then.

Generally it's accepted as such: If you can afford it, it's not a bad way to go.

Also they do have some of the best host designs I've ever seen, SpyderIII in particular.

Everything else RYDorDIE said stands.

Simple fact, distilled to the simplest form: the infrared pump diode in your green laser is a 50 milliwatts diode for 5 milliwatts green from infrared laser emission confinement. Since diode-pumped solid state laser is inefficient, it's a 1:10 power ratio you are dealing with for the green laser so no, you can't turn the laser pointer into the tape cutter without popping the pump laser.
