Hi Guys,

As you can probaby see, I'm very, very, very new to LPF.
But I have been into lasers for a long time.
I'm thinking about buying this laser: meierlight

Obviously it will be legal as it is a labby.
I think the price is really good but not sure if the laser will last.
Hopefully it is not underspeck and it will still be able to light matches, pop balloons etc.

Please give me your thoughts on this laser

Those units are actually pretty overspec and solidly built. In all its a good choice of lab, I have quite a few of the DHOMs myself (not that particular one though), so far no failiures or defects. Also, thats a DPSS system, not a green diode.

Dosn't it say laser diode for lightshows on the thing?

Yes, it's a mistake ;)

Green lasers use 1064nm (nm=Nanometers) IR light passed through a frequency doubling crystal that has an efficiency of around 20% and the lights wavelength gets halved making it 532 (green)

Its actually quite interesting to make your own DPSS system :)
