Low power green laser with cool host?

Hello everyone,

I'm here to ask you for some help.

I am looking for a laser that has the maximum possible beam brightness while remaining safe to be used indoors without glasses. So I guess that I'm looking for is something around a 5mW green laser, correct?
However my problem is that most if not all 5mW greens have really ugly hosts.

I value the design of some hosts, particularly the following products:

Power Rock Green laser Torch 50mW /Focusable&Waterproof [OL-MRGL50]
Nano Series | Red, Purple, Green Laser Pointer | Wicked Lasers

Actually, all WL hosts look great except for the Core, which sadly is the only 5mW they sell.

So here is where I am asking for your help. Does any of you know of a 5mW green laser solution with a cool looking host around the line of those designs I showed?

Thanks in advance.

You are paying.... $100 USD for a 15mW laser with a cool host... that is made in China......

Are you sure that would be wise?

Didn't say I'm buying a WL Nano, I was saying that I am looking for a 5mW green laser with a nice host like the WL ones or some o-like as in the model I linked.

Almost no-one on the forum makes green laser in such hosts. If you have money to spent why don't you ask the shop for a underspec laser. I am sure then have 5mW lasers that can't be rid of.

I doubt that WL for example will be willing to sell a 5mW in one of their higher power hosts. :(

Perhaps you may want to get a suitable host that works with the standard 12X30 (or longer) laser module- buy it and a complete green module and finish the assembly yourself-

there is a lot of satisfaction gotten when you build your own,

AND- if you get one of the new 520nm green modules your laser will be a better shade of green and be more unique than any 532 DPSS green. AixiZ Laser (.com)will soon add to their inventory a nice 520nm green that takes a very stable and sweet 11 mW.
(by eye alone it looked more like a 50mW 532. but a brighter , closer to green/yellow apperaence)

I have seen the sample and the dot looks perfectly round- no scatter or artifacts and runs nicely off ~3vdc- so great for two 1.5 vdc primaries or a single 3.6 vdc Li_ion.

I should have some of these soon and (after aug 24th) will do a review on these. ATM I cannot quote an exact price but as always, AixiZ provides the laser hobbist with quality at a fair price. The module I saw looked 12x40(brass standard) had red/black wires ready for soldering and no worries about ESD.

if my arm was twisted i would say the price will be less than 60$ ATM. you can see other 520 modules at EEKbay but none at 11 mW - 5mW yes, and much higher too. but I see none there that looked just like the sample I saw..

When you can, try to buy from another member of our forum- NOT a new or unproven member.

across the pond is Odicforce- great rep and provider of kits for a very long time. just be sure any kit you purchase will work with your module- Measure it and ask Odicforce if it will match. No other colors will be as easy to see- both beam or dot than the greens.
A green around 50mW to our eyes will appear as bright as 1W of 445 blue.

Read up on duty/rest cycle before you use any handhelds.
I killed my very first 532 green pointer the first night I 'played' with it.

Why the issue on getting such a low power laser in a great looking host, its not like 15mw WL green is anything like a 3 watt 445 nm ,this thread is a continued discussion on the 15mw green vs 100 mW red ,most ppl are going power more of it not less is there a reason you want such low power ? Apart from wearing googles

DX could be a solution, but isn't there the danger of them being underspeced and me getting a laser that would actually be dangerous to use indoors although they market it as a 5mW?
Or on the other hand, get the usual 1mW crap pointer? hehe

DX 5mW could be overspec but even "1mW" pointers can be too, as I've just discovered haha.

I'm guessing unless you buy from a reputable company that sells "true" power lasers then you should be ok. Otherwise it's just a gamble.

I'm getting a higher powered one as I explained in the other thread and also want a low power one that I can safely use indoors without requiring me to use goggles everytime I use it alongside everyone in the same room.

Did anyone here measured/tested the 15mW green Nano from WL to have an idea if it's actually on spec or different power?

most low power greens have pen hosts, I'd get one from optotronics, they go from true 5mW all the way to 100mW+. I can't say I've seen many greens under 100mW in particularly cool hosts

If you really don't want to wear protection, the lower the power output the better for all parties concerned.

Problem with Optotronics is that although their lasers are high quality, their 5mW hosts look terrible (typical thin pen). Not what I'm looking for my collection.
