To be seen easily in a well lit room, I'd go with 300mW.

And where is it you are finding these 300mW pens?
I have a 125mW green pen, and it can be seen in semi dim lit rooms easily. I'm talking like 60W x4 incandescent bulb lit rooms.

Those are just Rayfoss' designations for the "all-black" or the "silver+black" laser pointers.
I would go with a 50mW from LED shoppe:

Really, you don't want more than about 50mW if you are going to be pointing it around indoors with other people present (unless everyone is wearing laser safety glasses). :thinking:

I actually have a new born baby and i bought this to try to build up his laser tolerance...
I agree with Ash....I've had nothing but a great experiences with LED SHoppe. I ordered 2 of their 50mW silver pointer and one 20mW keychain pointer and have been thrilled. They work consistantly well (the keychain one dims once in awhile if I fuss with the power button or screw the cap on too tight, but no complaints for the price and for what I use it for...clubs etc.) and they're priced great.

It's not a good idea to use a handheld laser in a club, regardless of power.
I have uraninum, thorium metal and radium salt... But you would never even use a laser in a club so I don't see you being anywhere NEAR cool enough to handle my salty thorium metal balls...
