Hi all, Im brand new to the forum and lasers. I recently just purchased my first laser, a 150mW laser from laserbtb here:HL 532nm 50-300.

I have been doing a lot of reading on the stickies and researching batteries but Im still kinda confused. Laserbtb says that the battery the laser takes is a 16340 battery but from what I have read I can use a 18650 battery (which is better). I think I decided on the brand Sanyo but I'm having a hard time finding a battery that will work. They all seem to be a little bit to long or short for my laser.

Are there any owners out there that have this specific laser that want to direct me towards a good battery? Thanks!

I don't know much about this stuff but it says that the laser takes 1*16340 battery, so I'd give it that. A 18650 might work as well, I'm not 100% sure though. Protected cells are longer so some of them may not fit in your battery. Make sure you get good batteries, Sanyo and Panasonic are both good brands.

You can also add Allen Wu on Skype, I think he's the owner or customer relations guy or something, his skype is: skylasercn. He tends to answer questions pretty quickly :)

you wont find a sanyo 18350 or 16340. sanyo, panasonic, sony, etc.... mostly made 18650s since they were found in computer battery packs. if you want a good 16340 id go with xtar. you can use ultrafire but they dont hold as long of a charge. eagletac is another 16340 that members like but i will say i havent had luck with those or they didnt like my laser (not sure which one but they didnt work in my m140 501b laser)

EDIT: Gun, i think you meant 18350 not 18650 as stated above. 18650 is twice the size of a 18350

if it says it can take 2x 16340 then it can take a 18650 (depending on the driver) but the HL laserbtb takes 1x 16340 OR 1x 18350

An 18650 won't fit in a barrel designed for a 16340. Ever wondered what all the random numbers stood for? It's the size of the battery. An 18650 means it's 18mm diameter, 65mm tall. So a 16340 is 16mm diameter, and 34mm tall. No way an 18650 would fit.

Ok thats what I was expecting. I noticed the same exact laser that used the 18650 batteries was a lot more expensive which is why I got the other one. Is the main advantage of the 18650 battery just longer run times? What run times can I expect with this battery?

So a 16340 battery is the same as a CR123A battery right? I have two CR123A 3.6V juice batteries. Will those work? If I remember correctly juice is a reputable brand.

16340 = CR123A and 18350 work as well. 3.6v should work with this laser and as far as run time, hard to say. dont know the draw of the laser off the top of my head but id say well around 20 min depending on the mAh. i havent recharged my 18650 for my 100mW 532 yet and i have 20 minutes on that laser. i know thats not a good comparison at all since my 18650 is a 2900mAh and the 16340s are normally 800-1200mAh. someone else would be able to give you a better estimate since i dont have a single 16340 laser.

Ok update. I should have noticed that I needed a 16340 battery. It says it right on the laser. I tried a brand new CR123A 3.6V juice photo lithium battery in the laser and it wouldn't turn on.

Opps. Didn't have the wire in the back of the laser. Works great now. Thanks for helping out a noob!
