Now that the title has your attention I can start my post :)

Today My lasers arrived, my Romisen L-C030 and My DX 35mW labby.

This is just showing the labby. When I finally got it out the packaging, I had it all hooked up and ready to go, so I switched on the power and nothing :(. I kept trying different things to get it to work, then I realised, G_M didnt mean Green Main, it meant Green Modulation ;D So half an hour I had been trying to power my laser through the TTL input.

After I had finally realised that the input was at the other side of the boared, I hooked it up and once again turned on the power, still nothing  So It seemed like the diode was broken, but then I remembered that Jules had done a review of the same module, so I went to the review and saw that he had the same problem, but he fixed it by soldering the module straight to the PCB, so I tried that, and it worked. Then I thought to myself, the last one could cut tape, so this one should, and sure enough it cut the tape :D Just proving that its a lot more than the stated 35mW.( I havent even adjusted the pot yet , BTW, which way is it to turn the power up ?? )

I'll do a proper review later.

Now for Pictures :D ( Sorry for the quality, im using my phone, and my sister has the good camera on holiday with her  )

1. Front end of the module.

2. Both the module and the PCB

3. The dot on a white surface, It over powers the camera, easily.

4. Front end of the module when its on.

5. Dot on a black Deoderant can

6. The PCB. wires to the module are the ones on the left.

So far I have managed to cut tape ( quickly ) without a lens and I stung my skin. I'm waiting to get matches to see if I can light them, I might go out later and try buy some.

This is a great little module, once you figure out where to put the power lead, and get the connection problem sorted, im pretty pleased with it :)

seems like they still output quite a bit, even with the fact that they no longer resemble the module that i got ;D

the IR dot

Through filter one, it only lets violet and IR pass.

Filter two, only reflects green , passes RG IR

Not that much IR , about equal to my Romisens

I wonder how it compares to those Axiz modules. They cost roughly the same.

We need power readings. I have two of the AixiZ "50mW" units. One is putting out 110mW the other is putting out 130mW. I have one of the "newer" ones from AixiZ on its way. Then I need to figure out how to combine them and burn down the old tree out in my yard [smiley=evil.gif]

Peace,

;D

I dont have an LPM, but I can give a guesstimate, it cuts tape instantly with a lens, and without it takes about 1-2 seconds to start burning, im guessing 60-70mW without the pot being adjusted and running at 6V.

Guess what came in the mail this morning? The green laser. It appears to be the same board, but the module is different. This module is smaller. It appears to house a "regular" green pointer module in the heat sink. It warmed up to 65mW and then began tapering off. The beam is very tight and nice though. At 60mW it smoked my back, leather wallet at three feet. However, it will required active cooling to hold its power rating.

I guess my tree is safe . . . . . . for now. ;)

Peace,
dave
