I know what you're probably thinking. Another junk Chinese 532. Get your mode-hopping and free IR, learn your lesson, move on. Correct. BUT... :shhh:...

Got into lasers a year ago and read this forum a lot, plus did my own research. Learned a lot including 532s and DPSS/IR. Learned the basics for cheap lasers. First laser seller I found was LaserPointerPro (before eBay, LAZERER, Dragon, LG etc). I thought LPP would be nothing to get excited over. And they're not if you spend more than $10 since their selection/prices are so scattered/inconsistent. But there's one type specifically that's worth it.

*I've found their dimpled colored-metal host AAA pen-style 532s/650s to be sturdily-constructed and consistent with clean dots for under $10. This was October 2014. Their prices fluctuate and the 532s are now about $12. Still worth it IMO as a first laser or something to junk around with. Since then I've had two eBay Laser 301s which both weren't as bright as these AAA-styles. (I know the 301s can be crazy powerful and are Li-ion but still, the consistency thing here is key).

THE WEBSITE
The website will make you laugh. My first purchase summer 2014 I really thought I was making a big mistake. I didn't think the laser would even get to my door. But it was a $6.00 5mW 532, my first green laser ever, so the excitement outweighed skepticism. Free shipping, arrived in 3-4 weeks, kicked ass, and fell apart after a week. But I was hooked on green!

(That first one was also an AAA pen pointer, but it had the black rubberized host (like Opto pen pointers). Don't buy those. Get the ones with the colored hosts. Way more sturdy. The aperture cap is also sturdier plus they include a kaleidoscope cap. I've gotten these in both 532 and 650 and they're holding up after months of hard use.)

The website is a big scattered inconsistent mess. All different styles, batt types, and prices seem randomly chosen sometimes. You have no idea where they get their stuff, and they very well might be a huge reseller, maybe even selling returned stuff. They have some hilariously bad translations in the descriptions too.

"Creating a gypsophila pattern provides you with a sense of romance. Due to this character, it has also been used for concerts. Coordinating with the splendid performance and the crowd's passion, this pointer helps to promote the atmosphere." Also lines like "Can be used to signal for the SOS" and "create and add warm, romance to the atmosphere". Yeah, troll with this at a concert. Smart.

What the hell is a gypsophila? Dictionary.com says a cluster of tiny flowers like Baby's Breath. So they're referring to the kaleidoscope tip. Yeah. :knight:

Don't spend over $10-$15. But a perfect site to get a first pointer, or a cheap gift for a friend (who won't do anything stupid) or experiments. Because they're cheap, free shipping, don't take over a month to arrive, and last long. But only this pointer type:

(I got a green host to match the 532)

I ordered the "50mW" 532 colored-host pen pointer. Have also ordered the "100mW" and they seem identical. Was about $8 and got here in 3.5 weeks. FREE SHIPPING. A month is standard so under a month with free shipping is damn fine. Arrived in a plastic bag in a bubblewrap sleeve. No customs issue :shhh:

I don't have an LPM and obviously no IR filter so it's hard to judge the power. But it's dazzlingly bright compared to my 5mW 532...WAY brighter. I'd say it seems 1/2 to 3/4 as bright as my LAZERER CYBER 100mW 532. I would be comfortable saying it's 30mW-40mW true green? It cannot light matches but will slowly put holes in black plastic (IR I know).

The host is very sturdy, button is crisp, screws together tightly, and it can take 4V from a 10440 Li-ion & AAA dummy/spacer easily. I've used this exclusively for months and no damage. It pulls about 320mA. On the other hand I used the 10440 in one of the 650s (pulls about 150mA) and ruined it. Every one has had a clean dot, little splash. During well-lit conditions you don't see anything. In a dark room it's noticeable but not that bad. I ruined one trying to clean it.

I've bought about 4 of these. Every one was consistent in quality. I know DPSS can be temperature-sensitive...some worked better when warm, others cold. That was the only inconsistency. When at the temp they didn't like they would mode hop. It subsides after a while. The Laser 301s I happened to get mode hopped really bad. (One of them even strobed).

These are awesome cheap greens. Just be prepared to wait that standard month and let the good times roll. Perfect for messing around with trusted friends or if you need a cheap green to star-point/impress people.

In the world of low-end Chinese 532s, LPP is certainly worth a look (for this specific laser).

PHOTOS
Included some photos. You can also see the IR through my digi cam. That was when the batteries were "dead".
