Hi,
Ok, I accidentally clicked on Laserpointerpro's link from Near the LPF Google search line...I am sure many have seen the add for "50% off" right there next to the Google search line on every LPF page...so, here I am looking at some pretty nice looking lasers and then I come across a "1000mW green" for $219. I am skeptical as should anyone be but I decide, what the heck...I bought one knowing ot wouldn't be anywhere near 1w. Before I purchased I spoke with one of their agents and they agreed that if I received the laser and it measured 10% off they would accept it for a full refund. To be honest, I would keep it even if it measured 400-500mW as $219 would be a great deal for even that.

Here's the link to what I bought:
1000mW 532nm High-power Green Laser Pointer with free Protective Glasses at Laserpointerpro.com

It arrived in the mail today and to be honest, it is a very well built, solid, once looking device. Everything was included in a nice aluminum carry case...goggles, keys, battery, etc...

It has a very solid feel and the on/off function is very nice...turn the key and the button lights up blue, click once and it stays on until a second click.

My first impression was in broad daylight down my hallway...very bright and visible beam in a moderately lighted hallway...ok, I'm impressed....pointed it to my bare leg at about two feet....start to feel a sting at two seconds, unbearable at five or six.....not bad.

I have a Laserbee USB 2.5 on it's way, ordered a couple of days ago. Soon I will have some data for y'all.

I can and will post some pics and beam shots soon as well but, it looks exactly as the one in the ad.

So far I am pleased with my $219 purchase. I know it's not going to meter out to one watt but I knew that going into it....maybe 300-400? We will soon find out. I look forward to tonight when it's really dark and clear...I think it will be impressive.

Check back in a day or two and I will have some Laserbee data and pictures if you're interested.

Cheers,
Jeff

My bet is on ~300mW.

Do you also have a spare set of goggles, or IR filter, to check for IR content?

Yes, a spare set of goggle...I will attempt to weed out the IR...
Even if it's 300mW of pure green I really think it's not a bad deal considering the build quality, carry case, and extras...I will probably keep it, it's a nice looking handheld and the price os fair for that level of performance.

I also purchased an O-like 400mW for $199 but it hasn't arrived yet. Wil run some numbers on it as well and report back.

Wish a spare set of goggles you can weed out the green light and see how much IR is passing through.

IIRC Lazeerer posted a video about how to do it a little while back.

Yeah, o saw a video where they basically just kept the goggles moving around in front of the beam so the goggles didn't get damaged. Is that what you are referring to?

I took it out tonight on a clear sky...it's pretty impressive, about twice as bright as my 150mw green...I think you're gonna be correct at 300mw, hopefully the Laserbee will arrive tomorrow...

Yup, about the goggles, that's what I was referring to.

Do you know for sure that the 150mW laser you have is actually 150mW?

Well, I guess we'll see soon when you get your lpm, I'm curious to see the results:p

Measure the tailcap current - my bet is that you'll see somewhere between 1.3 and 1.8A of current.

Ok, got some preliminary numbers for y'all....just got the LaserBee USB up and running. My initial peak is 398mw....but, I say initial because it rapidly began to drop off and I realized my battery was almost dead. Of all the 18650's I own not one of them has a decent charge at the moment...I am charging two up as we speak. I am pretty sure with a fresh battery it's gonna peak over 400mW. I haven't done the goggle trick yet either.
So far I am impressed more than I expected to be.

Still habit decided if I will return it or not...I just got in of the GB for the Firedragon 500mW yesterday...I really don't need this one now but if it does manage to break the 450mW mark I will probably hang onto it. I really like the host and it seems to be very well built. Hopefully in a couple of hours I will have some final numbers for everyone.

I am still going to report back my numbers to the seller...see what they say in response, that will be a defining moment for me. Who knows, maybe they will offer me a rebate or something....wishful thinking I am sure...
Cheers!

Definitely looking forward to some charts, and IR content reading:)

It will probably hit over 450mW on peak with no problem on a fresh battery, but likely will be quite unstable.

It's not a bad deal, but definitely not steal either, considering you can get a 400mW o-like torch right now for $208 shipped.

Ok everyone, here's the skinny...with a well charged battery and multiple runs on my LaserBee USB the peak I continually am able to achieve is now 363mW. I don't know how or why it hit 398 earlier but not now and probably not ever. It is going back to the seller as soon as my RMA number is issued...I have no use for this pointer at this price. It looks nice, comes in a nice case with nice accessories but it is far from advertised. I hope they will honor their word they gave me prior to purchase. If not I will make it my mission to let everyone know not to deal with them. So far my only complaint is they are, not surprisingly, selling under spec lasers for mediocre prices.

So, no 450, not even a peep over 400....not worth the effort or time to mess with them.

Can't wait to get my FireDragon 500mW green...past experience with recent GBs proved almost all came in well over spec...go ping this one will fare well.

I also purchased the Crown Upgrade 400mW but it still has not arrived after 32 days...these as well have been reported to routinely come in over spec...hoping the same here.

Oh yes, and the goggle trick...seems all green, only a couple of mW showing on the LaserBee with the goggles in place. At least it is all green...

So, for those of you considering Laserpointerpro....buy with skepticism....

Check back in a few days and I will let you know how the return goes. According to their return policy they will pay for return shipping if the wrong item was delivered...I am asking that they pay for the return shipping for obvious reasons...we will see how that goes as well.

Cheers!

Hmm, surprising. Maybe the first time it peaked higher because it was cold. I have seen lasers peak quite a bit higher when they are physically cold.

The firedragon I got from the last GB was able to peak at over 700mW when I brought it in from using it outside.

Yup, now that you mention it I brought it in from the truck outside where it was about 38 degrees...I remember handling the laser and thinking to myself "dang, this thing is cold"... Maybe I will throw it in the freezer for a couple of hours and see if it will break 400!

Hi congratulations on your purchase. A 1W 532 for 200.000 wow post the LPM reading on it when you get your LPM. My first laser was from them and it was a 500Mw 532nm.. when i LPM'd the beam it was only 50mW bid difference. Never bought from them again. Hope you have better luck. I know this is an old thread but i had to chime in..

Rich:)

There's a pretty lengthy review of that on youtube. I'll try and find the link when I get home.
