i believe the alpha has a better duty cycle, and bigger batteries, which should mean better battery life
i would also suggest to read around a bit as many people, including myself, have asked this question before  :p

I'd suggest buy one from DX and spend the money you save on beer and girls, then waste the rest.  :D

If you can afford an Alpha or X-series, don't buy a DX laser. With DX, you're gambling with your money. Sometimes you get a decent laser, sometimes it's totally shit. With Nova, you get a guaranteed above-spec or at the very least at-spec laser, and you have their warranty and support, too.

go with the alpha : ) i have the alpah 125 prolby more then you want to sped but man is it awsom u have all thos mw's plus the safety features... you can carry it in your pocket with out having to worry about it acidently turing on and if it does the aperature cap will keep ti from getting dusty and buring a hole in your pocket :p

plus if when your warranty runs out and you want lithium power from nimh battries you can easly pot mod it with a long screw driver but this is not to be attembted if this is your first laser as you may and up killing it if you do it wrong dont kno how but have to throw that safty thing in their .... i have mine modified and man is it awsom i love this thing : )

Don't use rechargeables if you expect to burn things. They don't give you enough juice to get the job done. Some Energizer E2 lithiums or Duracell PowerPix are your best bet. As for beam visibility, it should be pretty visible, my Wickedlaser that's supposed to be 125mW is about 100-115mW, so judging from that, it's pretty easy to see in a well-lit room, and at night, it looks like you're reaching out and touching the stars.

As for safety, I think the Alpha has the full deal; aperture shutter, 5-second delay before it turns on, keys go in the side, and a dead-man dongle in the back.

the beam on my alph is very bring at night and visable during the day at certin angles... the safty features are good but the only one i ever use is the appature cap and some times the safty dong other wise i just keep it lockd in the on possiton.... the only one you may hate is teh 3 second delay witch takes some getting use to but after a while you do get use to it....
i use durcell battries the 2650mah ones and they seem to work well and as good as litiums after my pot mod

happy lasering and be safe as with all this power comes alot of responsiblity (i live under a flight path for dfw so you can immagen the safty their :p )

no its 3 second delay ,key lock in the back but the key can be removed, and deadman dongle on the side

plus fres hot off the charger rechargables will have enough power to get the job done if you use them withing 30 min and only for 5 min but if you dont feel like recharging all the time go with lithiums
