Hello everyone!

I´m Spanish so sorry if my English is not perfect :yh:

Since some weeks ago, i am interested in laser pointers. I think it will be my new hobby xD, and i would like to buy a green laser, but i dont know which should i choose for what i am searching for.

I am searching for a green laser that have a VERY visible line beam (is that correct?). In order to see the line in the distance.

I´ve heard about Hulk 300mW of Dragon Laser but it is extremely dangerous and expensive. The most i can spend is 41 USD.

I have found this one: Click here

Do you think, it is a good laser pointer for me?
Do you think that if i buy this one, i need to buy glasses too?

Thanks!!:yh:

I actually like that laser a lot, it's the perfect shaped host for a cheap chinese green pointer.

For what you get vs what you pay, I think that's a good choice. I'd probably get the model without "stars" because I think that's cheesy, but otherwise, $37 for a cool host, and a green laser that will probably be at least 50% as powerful as it advertises - not bad.

May I ask, how on earth you came up with exactly $41 as your budget ?

Well, so you say that probably the laser is a 50mW laser?

Which is the model without the stars effect?

Answering to your question: I had in mind to spend at most, thirty euros and if you convert that into dollars, you have 41 USD xD

Thanks.

You never know what power you'll end up with when you buy from cheap chinese gadget sites. But I would guess that you'll get at least 50% out of it.

EDIT: I want to clarify that - by saying "...guess that you'll get at least 50% out of it" I realized that the comment could potentially confused someone who happened upon a "2,000mW Green laser for $70" and thought "Hmmmm, if I even get 50% of that power, I'm golden!". What I really should have said is that in this case, I think you'd probably get 50mW out of it. At such low price tags, you're paying more for the host, optics, circuitry, labour, markup, and shipping, than you are on the diode itself. So (from my understanding) it probably doesn't add much to the cost for them to create a 50mW green over, say, a 30mW green. Etc. But there's no "50%" rule, or anything like that. My sense is just that in this situation, you'll probably end up with at least a decent, 50mW green laser.

By the way - that's not a knock on DX specifically, it's just the reality of all cheap chinese gadget sites. For such a small laser budget, there's not a lot you can expect to get.

I think that if your room is dark, and you're looking "down-beam", you'll probably be able to see a beam.

If it's 50mW or even just 30mW it'll be plenty visible, at least at night.

For a visible beam during the day you need much more power, more than 200mW I'd guess.

but i want a laser to see the beam at night :S do you know other laser with a more visible line beam at night of a similar price?

The laser i linked is for 8 kilometers (it is said in a comment); are you sure that a laser with that power can´t have a very visible line beam at night?

I EDIT: When i say " a very visible line beam" i refer at night. sorry if i hadn´t said before (i have forgotten it)

Thanks, but, they are less powerfull than the laser i linked :S

do you think that WITH THIS ONE (the laser i linked before) you will be able to see the line beam in the distance (20 meters) at night?

Even a 5mW laser will have a visible beam at night. Will it be "extremely visible" to the person next to you? Probably not. But a 30mW laser is plenty enough power for a nice beam at night, and I would advise against paying extra to get anything more powerful than that, because with your budget you can't afford a burner, and there's sort of a dead range between 30mW and 100mW. And you don't want to have to worry about goggles anyway. However, you do need to be careful with reflections from anything over 5mW, even if you don't need goggles to look at the dot.

Don't even pay attention to those distance ratings on websites; they mean next to nothing. My recommendation is this:

$21.66 New Keychain Green Beam Laser Pointer Pen Flashlight 30mW/50mW/100mW - BudgetGadgets.com

30mW for $21.66. If you want a more powerful laser (note you will need to be extra careful), the 50mW version is just $7 more.

----------------

Now in english xD

thanks XD a person who speaks spanish here. I´ll write this message in english, too, in order not to "discriminate" anybody xD

I´ve seen in this foro (the link) too.

Do you think that it is better than DX´s one? I think that the laser of the link is smaller and worse... :S i dont know

Well it advertised as 100mw 532nm on the website but do not count on that.As other people says It would output 50mw or so_Ofcourse there is a little chance of outputting 100mw or little more.
The lasers that I sent is outputting 50mw+.
I just prefer rayfoss or o-like over dx because they test their lasers and help when you have a problem.
50mw 532nm will be visible at night. If people using coal for heating there at nights or weather is foggy you will see a very visible beam but even if not you will see a visible beam not just 20m but towards to clouds.

Personally I think you will be happy with the o-like. With my 5mW greenie I see the beam fine at night and in a dark room even better. Anything with more power than that you definitely will see a beam. I've heard better things about o-like than dx but that's just my opinion.
