Laser pointers over 5mw in USA?

I've heard that you can't get a laser pointer above 5mw in the United States. Is this true? :thinking:

Depends on where you try to get them. There are plenty of companies that will ship them to you. If you are worried about customs, have them send the tailcap and battery in a different package.

The government and the customs don't want you to get one,
yet people are still able to get them shipped to their house (lucky?).
Some are confiscated though when picked out by the customs.

Side note I have yet to see a cheap green pointer labeled <5mw that is actually <5mw.
