Laser Magically Working Now 532nm ~5mw

So I bought a 532nm pen from a member here. I wanted it to be as close to 5mw as possible and I wanted it LPM'd. The member was very kind and very cheap and very accommodating. I am not putting the person's name because I don't feel this is about that person. I used the laser quite a bit for maybe a month of two. I got my monies worth for sure. One day it just stopped putting out a bright dot. I could see a very very dim dot. The laser was not LED'd. I tried changing the batteries. I tried a different "end cap" from another laser with the same host. Nothing changed it. I decided to just pack it away in my sun glasses case. It got left in my car for at least the last month. I found it while cleaning my car out. I put the same exact batteries in it that I had in the sun glasses case. It's magically back to normal output. I had tested this laser out multiple times and on multiple days previously to no avail. I don't understand how or why it is working now, I suppose I don't really have to understand...

It does seem to "ramp up" to a bright dot now though.

All my dead diodes are in the mail with pre-paid return envelope:)
If it makes you feel any better I balanced out the "force" by blowing a diode today;)

DPSS lasers can be really finicky. If I had to guess, I'd say it had something to do with temperature or misalignment.

They can be weird.I wonder how much effect humidity has on the KTP?Maybe it dried out in the car?The tolerances are so tight in those things who knows?I treat my DPSS like they are made of blown glass...and they still can die.

This is the primary reason all my new greens are direct diode lasers...much less sensitive. As a bonus I like the color better too!
