Laser Genetics ND3 Subzero Disassembly

A thread for those who are wondering what's inside the Laser Genetics ND3 focus-able laser flashlight.
This is the small 25mm objective model, 18mw green laser, and runs on a single cr123 battery.
This device is NOT meant to be disassembled, copious amounts of red loctite are used on all the threads. Parts must be heated to +500F to release the loctite then they unscrew reluctantly.

From left to right;
large objective lens housing, focusing ring, telescoping tube assembly w/lens and laser heat sink, main housing/battery tube, tail-cap switch assembly.


Here is the laser diode 'holder', and with all those wires going to it, sensors, a heater for the cold weather start up(the gray layer between the aluminum and brass. Driver, battery contact plate/spring.




Here is a shot of the business end of the laser diode.

Nice pics, Phased Array. Out of curiosity, could you please detail how you unscrewed the loctite-threaded screws? I have a few hosts I would like to repurpose to lasers that are loctite-sealed as well and would love some pointers on opening them. I tried heating mine with a propane torch and didn't have much luck.

I played a propane torch around the threaded area of the body and used welding gloves(and sheet rubber for grip). It stays goopy and hard to turn, final cleanup was with lacquer thinner. I tried penetrating oil and it helps to free up the threads after you get it started. You might try a soldering iron on the head of smaller screws.
