Hi,

I've bought a green laser some days ago, just got it today.
It's pretty bright for a while (<10 secs), then it's brightness suddenly goes down to about half, without any fade. It's not mode-hopping.
Is this normal?

Nope, it's WL Exec 35mW. It does the same with new batteries...
I'll try tomorrow with rechargeables.

Most pen lasers do this. They have poor heatsinking so they heat up fast and the output drops. Try shining the laser through a magnifying glass to check for mode hoppping. You can also trying asking wicked's customer service ;)

I've tried with rechargeables, still drops output after 10-15 sec...
I don't know if it mode-hops.. when it's dimmer, the dot gets a little bigger.

Btw, it still smokes leather from ~10cm, even when dim.
Does other 35mw lasers smoke leather from farther distance?
