A few years ago I bought my first green laser off of ebay which was very close in looks (if not identical) to this...

Stylish 5mW 5 mW 532nm Green Beam Laser Pointer Pen New - eBay (item 280572810176 end time Dec-07-10 11:53:28 PST)

...but I don't think that is who I bought it from.

It was actually a very good laser IMO but it was my first so I had nothing to compare it to. Then I bought an O-Like 100mw module and compared the two. I could tell no difference in beam brightness or apparent distance. I have nothing to measure the output with. So anyway... I felt good about the first laser and it used AA batteries which made them cheap to replace and they had a decent life.

Now it has come up missing. (I still have the o-like module but that is for a project) I would like to replace it with another hand held pointer style laser. I have looked at o-like again but they appear to use somewhat expensive batteries.

Here is the o-like I am looking at...

New cute pocket Green laser 200mW /adjustable [OLCGL200] - $120.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

I always have AA's on hand and they are cheap. So what should I do? Are there rechargeable lasers? How long do the CR123's last?

That laser comes with a rechargeable battery and the charger. Those batteries are around $4.00 Keep a pair charged and battery life shouldn't be an issue.

Virtually all laser pointers that use CR2, CR123 or 18650 size batteries are designed to work with rechargeable cells. CR2 and CR123 batteries are also available as primaries, but the rechargables usually offer more power.
