Depends if you build or buy. For $100 you can rig a blu ray with an 803 diode that will 'burn' white paper if focussed thighly. Little chance of setting it on fire, but you can sure burn a hole trough.
meant green lasers ofc :p

Mainly, I never mention them because dealextreme lasers until 50mW work great, for 1/10 the price. I completly disagree about the "you get what you pay for" with lasers under 50mW. What can you say about the dilda. get a 200mW from optotronics and get the dilda Suse sells. Now compare prices. Now note that the output is just about the same. Then you realize you just wasted your money buying optotrnics.

They are of course the best options for 100mW+ green lasers, but under here, forget about them. IMO ofc

Well then keep your Deal X lasers then, most of these companies do not ship to the US anymore because of customs. And for the record I did buy a red laser from Susie it is the new style red but I have not received it yet. As for me I prefer Optotronics over mass produced cheap lasers that go bad qucker than the more expensive ones....but hey they are cheap to replace.

althought DX do not ship to USA, there are a lot of non USA users. Also for the USA, ledshope is shiping there. And well, I think optotronics lasers are lasomass produced :p

The single advantage I can find from buying a <50mW green laser from optotronics is the shipping time. But if 75$ is worth a week waiting... for me it's not lol.

For me it depends on what gives the best bang for your buck. The optotronics lasers are very high quality, but the cheap Chinese lasers are coming up in quality very quickly. These days, it seems like the extra money you spend on an optotronics laser (for example) isn't justified by a similar jump in quality. The cheap Chinese lasers get better and better as the price gets cheaper and cheaper. The same can't be said for most reputable US laser companies, where the prices stay fixed no matter what happens in the rest of the market. In a year a cheap Chinese 100mW laser pointer will be $30-40 and will have improved in quality, where an optotronics 100mW pointer will still be much more expensive and the same quality as always.

If you want to burn stuff, you can buy a bic lighter at any gas station for about $.50

Save yourself $99.50 and have MUCH more burning power :D:D
