KD 50

Well, it's been a week since I got my KD 50, and it now outputs around 20mW. I took it apart, and I found that it now produces a teardrop shape dot and is not very stable. What luck I get with lasers, I get a good one, and it goes bad after a week.

I've also only had bad luck with green lasers so far...

I ordered four KD50s and two of them were good, and the other two were very bad, mode hopping, and looked used and returned. Looks like KD just tries to sell returned items untill someone keeps them.

But the two KD50s that were good were VERY good. Unfortunatelly i killed one with a 3.6V battery, but the other one is still peaking at 76, and is very stable after some basic modifications and fixes.

I used the other body of the dead one to put in the DX200 module, to give it proper heatsinking, as opposed to the "air heatsink" that is between the module and the pen body in it's original form.

It's now peaking at 156mW or so, and drops a lot slower, and mode hopping is also delayed untill the entire body is HOT!
