Welcome to LPF:D

More details would be helpful. Such as where you got the laser.

A 230mW 532nm (Green) laser will burn things. Generally above 100mW-150mW you should be able to light a match.

The reason I'm asking where you bought it, is that depending on the source (cheap chinese gadget site) it's likely the laser is nowhere near 230mW.

Also most inexpensive green pointers produce a lot of IR.

Make sure you have the proper safety goggles for your new laser. You only get 1 pair of eyeballs.

It's not a bad company per say. It's just that they really don't have any kind of quality control in place, so you may get lucky and get a good laser, but chances are low.

Most likely you'll get something in the ~50-150mW range depending on your luck. The laser will NOT be IR filtered.

If you are going to be burning with a green laser you need proper goggles: Eagle Pair® 190-540nm & 900-1700nm Laser Safety Goggles

I never bought from this company, but from plenty of similar companies.

I on a budget I would recommend o-like.com their lasers are much closer to what they advertise and on spec.

If you want high quality Optotronics Laser Products
