Just Bad Switches In DX True 30's???

With all of the talk of these lasers getting dim and/or "dying" not long after receiving them, could it just be a simple case of lousy switches? When I receive mine and if it fails, that's the first thing I'm going to check. I don't think it's worth sending this back to China at my expense so I will open it and bypass the on board switch or simply short it to normally closed, cut the battery leads and temporarily connect a known good switch. If it works this way then we can either mount the laser in a new flashlight case and connect it to the new switch or try and replace the switch with one from a cheapo red . Sound possible guys?

MORE than possible ! If you disassemble it, take a switch from a CD or DVD rom or burner deive - the eject button works PERFECT for these pen lasers....just a simple replacement, and you are good to go !

Hi Photongeek, Have you tried getting it apart yet? I only ask as I have destroyed 2 to get the modules out (they were dead anyway).
I know senKat and others advocate the wood block method but I pulled and twisted until I was red in the face with no success :-[.

I wish you luck with it. ;)

The switch on my DW .1W acts like a Pot. sometimes; the harder I press the brighter the beam.

Anyway those switchs can be desoldered and replaced once the tube is heated and torqued off.

Cool ;D

Guess that's a sure sign :)
I'm not convinced that the switches are the cause of the majority of problems with these lasers, but it's a fault fairly easy to diagnose.
