IR filters on cheap greenies

Has anyone ever measured the IR output of some of the cheap green pointers? I know the good ones have a high quality IR filter to block the substantial amounts of invisible IR but with prices dropping down into the $5 range I have to wonder if they might skimp on this. Ironically, safety glasses could make a green module more dangerous than without if they block much of the visible light leaving a lot of IR.

Generally speaking the cheaper greenies the cheaper ones do not have ir filters. The output of ir varies from laser to laser, but anyways.....Yes this is dangerous.

What IR filters on $5 pointers?? They do not come with any at all. IR contents seem to fluctuate wildy on greens with no filter.

Edit- it took me 3 minutes to type that LOL, damn football on tv . Udanis beat me to it.

Holy crap, you're right! I just aimed one through some safety glasses at the wall and could see no spot at all. Looked with my digital camera and there's a dot on the wall across the room! That's downright scary!
