IR Filter

hey ,
i got a CNI green viper pen and want to know if the IR filter which screws into the barrel under the lens can be taken out and put in on top so it will act as a lens protector.
ps the ir filter is already out .

It will work but it's not going to offer any better "protection."
If anything you want to keep it where it is/was so that it doesn't get dusty.

It is common here to use silicone tail-caps to cover the aperture of some lasers to keep dust out.

yeah the filter will get scratched/dirty so theres no point , thx
