I'm going to be purchasing the X150 from nova, and what else should I get?

I know i'm going to be needing eye-wear, though i'm not sure which company has the best protection/prices. And nova's eyewear is kinda price, but if it's the best, im willing to pay for it. Any help with this?

I heard i'll be needing some type of lens-caps of some sort, where should i purchase? Or should I just get the laser + optics set from nova? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Get the laser and optics set from nova, you dont really need them, but they will give you a little extra fun I suppose, also get novas goggles, you could get laser shades from wicked lasers if you want, both are good so thats up to you.

Ya, I was going to get the pulsar from WL, but from nova, I can get one thats +25mw for the same price. The optics set would be pretty entertaining, so i figured "Eh, why not get one".

This is my first higher-powered laser, and I'm just curious, how is the beam in nighttime. Does it only show across particles like lower-end ones, or is it as thick and full as im hoping it'll be? This is the X150 im speaking of.

The beam on your X150 will be fully visible at night, it will actually be bright enough to partially mess up your night vision so don't use it at a star party. ;D Optotronics sells laser Goggles cheaper than Nova's, it will cost around $50 shipped. Also, you can try PMing the member Pseudonomen137 here, he sells goggles for $40 shipped to the US IIRC.

Don't buy any laser from WL either, they are overpriced and many of them have been defective, their pulsar is a joke too, you can get a 200mW focusable red laser for $44 shipped from DX these days.

Ya, I didn't like the idea of an out-of-country company such as WL (especially one filled with commies trying to sell me a dangerous laser), So i decided to go with nova, since they are based in Canada.

And, I figure since the word "hockey" isn't going to be used in the purchase of a laser, that the canadians won't be trying anything stupid. ;)

The CNI/X-series have a thin (but strong) beam which makes them great for burning, but don't worry... It'll look like a light saber at night time.

Look at my avatar... The bright green beam on the left is a CNI 150 (same laser as the X150).. The weak green beam on the right is a 5mW pointer.. That should give you a good idea of how it'll compare.

Perfect, just what i'm looking for. Thanks a ton, guys.

The diffraction caps are worth it, IMO - VERY nice effects - and slides snugly right onto the end of the laser.

Actually, I'd get those sports goggles from Nova. They really are nice, and I was thinking of getting a pair to match the ones I got for red from WL. They certainly are nicer than the laser-level goggles I got a while back, which block like 95% of all the light so you can hardly even see the dot.

Also, all these lasers that are sold on these sites are made in China anyway. So don't think you're fighting the red giant just by purchasing via a reseller in Canada. Despite that, you'll get much better bang for your buck from Nova, or even Deal Extreme (for red) than you'd ever get from WL. Hell, for red, if you don't want something like the DX 200mW Dilda, I'd just spend the money on a Laserman red laser pen, or build your own.
