I just bought my very first green laser!

Yes!
I bought a True DX 20 Mw 'Greenie' (I guess that's what you guys call it).
It's shipping out in a few days to here in Florida.
Personally, I can't wait! I'll be the envy of my next door neighbor who
has everything (but not a greenie =D)
I guess this is also an introduction. 2-in-1!

If you want to impress people you should point it around outside on a foggy night. Dx takes a long time to ship though so don't hold your breath waiting for it.

i just ordered the dx30 a couple days ago, ive been hearing thats the one to get :\ hopefully it will have left hong kong before today since all business in china will pretty much be shut down for the next couple weeks for their new years

i just ordered my green 30mw from dx it says it should be shipped out today i saw it on youtube and i had to get it to mod up and get a burning lens for it (if i can find one) to see what it can realy do lol

found DX, got my 10mw true... it came in only a week! ;D
- then attempted to mod it, went too far... crash and burn! :'( :'( :'(

oops... not to turn this into a downer... you're going to love those new toys!

but patience be to you all, DX has slowed somewhat recently, and their order tracking is about as close to random bits as you can get - I've had an order that was "shipped", with a tracking number, turn up a week later as "waiting for supplier"; and once had an order come a week after an order that I had placed a week prior to it - does that make sense? No, and neither does their order tracking!

and don't think that tracking gets any better when it leaves HK and hits our orderly shores... the US PO often doesn't acknowledge the package's existence until it's about 7 feet from your door... so when the US tracking site says it doesn't know what you're talking about - "no record" or whatever - be assured that nobody, in fact, knows that there isn't a record

now after all that - please note that I have ordered 8 times from DX since September, have always gotten exactly what I've ordered (eventually, and usually pretty quickly), and will continue to be a regular customer - because it's a good deal overall!

kip kay is what got me into lasers. had a burner that was acting funny so i ripped it open and took out the ld.. burnt it out on the first day by hooking it up to a 9v to test polarity... found laser community, got banned? found lpf. ordered more reds from korea. leg broke off first one. second going strong after a month or so. birthday. bought a bluray sled and dx true 30 green from on the same day several days ago. profit

im usually a very patient person but i hate waiting for packages... yet im too cheap/broke to pay for express shipping
its 1:20am in china right now so hopefully my stuff is either on a plane already or is lots somewhere in the canadian post otherwise its going to be at least a month before i see either of my packages

i jsut got another email from dx today (weird since they are supposed to be closed for new years?) that my order has been shipped and is expected to be here 7-15 days. which is also weird because im pretty sure i already got that email from them

Don't they close on the 5th?
Anyway, my order now appears as "The item left Hong Kong as of February 2nd, 2008" ;D [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]
As to everyone else who ordered on DX and order hasn't left HKP yet, I hope that if it's not sent now, that it be sent right afetr the holday is over. =]

IT CAME!! Yes, my laser arrived at my door today. I was at school, then went to a friends house after, so I didn't get to see it until now BUT IT'S VERY COOL.
This laser is very..no EXTREMELY bright compared to most other things that generate light. It's beam can be seen clearly at night, in the dark, and faintly in the daytime. All of this for 22.91!! =]
I have decided I will NOT potmod my greenie for two reasons: A) I almost certain I'll break it, even though I'm awesome with eletronics. B) I already named her. ._.
Her name is Spectra. =D I'm not crazy, just over-possessive!!

i gotta question. with those lasers, do you still need goggles; What would the IR output be on something like that?

You need goggles if you're going to buy any kind of high powered laser, although if you're going to buy the 20 or 30mW from dealextreme then I wouldn't really worry about goggles. As for the IR, apparently dx lasers do have an IR filter, but they say their lasers don't because they don't want to get in any trouble if something happens to a person who gets a laser without an IR filter.
Even if the 30mW didn't have an IR filter I wouldn't worry about it much because IR spreads more than regular light and the output wouldn't be too great to cause bad damage to the eyes.
