i have just got a supposedly 200mw green laser seconhand off ebay
it looks like the pic below the prob is its poo has trouble lighting matches and burning tape but if i take the end off and remove the lense and housing it sits in at close range it burns fast.
tryed to focus the lense but cant make it any better whats going on can any one advise me what to do with it shall i pot mod it.
i just want to pop balloons at a distance.im a noob to so be gental

When you say taking of the lense you might be removing the IR filter which will be very dangerous :eek: my friend. The laser you have looks like a spymodex one, i've seen them on Ebay and don't trust them myself. With this particular model i'm not sure whether it's IR filtered or not but i do know that the pen type spymodex lasers are not. As for the power anything from 50mw at least will pop balloons and burn so your laser should be more than capable if it was running ok. I think you may have been ripped off with this particular laser and i would advise you to get a refund if at all possible.

thanks i might just take it apart and mess around with it cant be arsed with returning it.
if i can get the button off i can do somthing to it

Hmmmm - in order to help, I would have to see "live" pictures of it - and then I am not certain I could help remotely like this. If you are interested in getting it tested, and are in the US - I owuld be more than happy to test it out for you. Otherwise, if you are in the UK - perhaps Timelord can assist ?

well, even being in the UK, I would still consider sending it to SenKat.  He's very competent and knowledgable.  He currently has two of my Dead lasers and I have no doubt that he will ressurect one of them.  I personally would love to look at the guts of that thing and would be able to assist based on pictures.  provided they are good pictures.  Depending on your skill level and knowledge we should be able to get you up and running.

I'd also say unless you really know what your doing I would stop trying to fix it until you know what your doing. You can end up doing more damage than good and make it beyond repairable if you mess it up too bad. If it's truly capable of 200mw then you don't want to mess with it any more until you know what to do.

I don't know you or your ability so I'm not going to assume you don't know jack. just a friendly tip.

It's great having 2 moderators either side of the pond :D I'll help if your in the UK for laser testing. Just pay the postage either way through paypal or what ever is good for you. I will test the laser in question and photograph the results if so wished. I use a Coherent lasercheck so the result will be accurate....

I brought it from SenKat a while ago. As for price they can cost up to $300 :)

Look on CPF for the new LPM-1 power meter seen in the vendor areas.
Nice meter and good features.

btw paid 60 euro's for mine (yes stil cant beleave it myself)
