Default How to remove heatsink?

Hey, I feel like an idiot for asking this...
I have one of these:
200mW 532nm Green Laser Diode Pump Module W Heatsink | eBay

and I can't get the heatsink off.... Are there any tricks? How do you do it? I really don't want to wreck it. :/

Thanks all!

Hey Moisenator! I have the exact same module and bought off the exact same seller! I'm wondering, have you managed to get the heatsink off?

i'd guess it's thermal epoxied on. ALOT of force will be needed just make sure you dont put too much pressure on the module itself. you could try hacksawing it off?

Wouldn't that sort of heat treatment be bad for the diode?

I had a module similar to that. The heatsink is only pressed in but pretty tight. You'd need to desolder the driver board or risk breaking the diode pins while pressing the heatsink out.

I wouldn't recommend it due to the metal filings ending up in the optics and the vibration knocking the crystals out of alignment. But you can try at your own risk.

Can you get the threaded ring off or is that what you're having the trouble with? Everything
comes loose with a big enough screwdriver/wrench.

The one that I received doesn't seem to have threaded rings. It's just the one long module with a heatsink stuck onto it.

The one pictured does, though it could just be a stock photo.
