Hello fellow laserers :D:D,

I think I am going to buy myself a 20-30mW green laser module... I know that it will most likely be missing the ir filter... I've got one off my web cam so I was wonder where exactly is this filter put...??

Does somebody have a green module dismantled and show me exactly where to put it? With photos :) . I don't want to disalign the chip or brake something... I never worked with one of these DPSS lasers... only bare diode ones...

I will appreciate the help...

I already ran a search on the forum but I couldn't see it and my eyes started hurting already... there is a video on youtube which ISN'T showing anything where to put that filter...

I apologize if there is a thread already on that if so pls send me a link and I will delete the thread.. (if I can, if not I'll let the moderators do it)

Order an ir filter and glue it on the aperture

^^^What they said:p

But a question for you, why do you want an IR filter for a 30mW laser in the first place?

thanks for answers :)
I thought that even the low power greenies emit harmful IR light which could be filtered.... or I am wrong ... I am not sure :D

IR light is still just light... you just can't see it - but it's no more or less harmful;)

With the lower power green lasers, the green light will be dangerous to you long before IR becomes an issue.

You can install an IR filter just for fun... but if you intend to just use the laser to point in the sky, or a short distance away from yourself on non reflective surfaces, it's not really needed imho.

The reason that many people on here install IR filters is that they want to try to burn with their green lasers. Since there is a high risk in burning - the laser is close to your face - and IR filter is typically a must because most goggles do not block it.

If you do plan to burn with a green laser I would recommend both installing an IR filter and getting IR blocking goggles - better safe than sorry.

ummmm YES I am BABELING about it because I am not aware where the IR filter is put in these modules... I might get a more powerful one someday it's not NECESSARILY 30mW...

that's why the thread is titled "How to put IR filter in green laser module?" not "How to put IR filter in 30mW green laser module?"...

someone might find it useful for his 200mW or 1000mW ... don't you think???

Ok sorry that i use the word ( babeling) might gives a negative feeling.
But it's obvious to add IR filter , if possible , inside a pointer so it looks clean , i mean where else to add IR filter.

No problem there,

Yes, it might be obvious for most people here but I thought it might be put somewhere before the final collimating lens... somewhere inside the module ... I see now that it can be placed after it :) I might be stupid but I wanted to ask :D just to be sure :)

Not all mine, but more than half... and you can't see most in the picture:)

It did look amazing at night... was a very humid night.

Does a DvD Drive have a IR filter you could use ?
Or use the 1 out of an old web cam
