ok first their are 2 ways you can pot mod this thing 1 with out removing any thing but the batteries or 2 complete dissemble but you under stand by doing this you void your warranty so if its been past 3 months go for it if not I won’t recommend it I only did it because well I had to dissemble my alpha 125 because the tube got scratched up when I was trying to remove the batteries end with the key switch. some how it was machined bad and finally after a few unscrews one of the threads managed to break off and wedge its self between to other threads making this thing basically glued together and took a vice to get the batteries end off and with it off I am going to mod it but anyway on to the pot mod.
1st all you have to do is removing the batteries end with the key switch in it and use a flash light to look down the batteries tube you should see the spring then right beside it you should see a screw head this is the pot turn it clock wise with a very long screw driver. It’s roughly 10-20 screws from very min to very max. you could even do this to turn down the laser if say you wanted to play with the cats or something or turn it up to make it more of a burner with nimh batteries or lithium’s but I would recommend you only pot mod while you view the dot through a magnifying glass so you can observe when you went to far it will mode hop and flash and do every thing besides be a constant dot I believe this is the crystal assemble being over saturated
2nd is dissembling the laser
1st take off the apparatus cap
2nd turn the outer lock ring counter clock wise but leave the inner one with the lens where it is as this adjust your focal length and divergence but its set to its best divergence right form the factory as I have found out by undoing it and spending a few hours to get it back the way it was
3rd you should expose the aluminum laser assembly but you wont know as it will look just like the ring you just took out except a whole lot longer anyway turn this just enough to break the glue so about 1/16 a turn left and then right then center it back up where it originally was
4th with the glue broke and it aligned where it was put a batteries in the tub and gently press down on it this should easily force the laser assembly out as it isn’t press in very hard it should just slide right out
Ok now that you have the aluminum heat sink along with the circuit board attached you can now adjust the pot while hooking it up to a makeshift batteries holder this will allow you to get the maximum power out of it before it starts shifting]
now my plans are going to be to cut this tube down and drill it out so I can fit a 18650 batteries in their and also a diode to drop the voltage down this will give me a mini RPL : ) anyway if you have any questions feel free to ask as I know this is confusing with out pictures as I do not have a very good digital camera (2MP)
