Hey LPF, first post here :p

I am looking for a possible host for a green 200mW DX module I have lying around which can be found here:
200mW 532nm Green Laser Module (3V 11.9mm) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

This is my first laser build and I don't really have any equipment other than a soldering iron. (which I would have to use anyway to bypass the switch)

I have two pretty cheap hosts in mind and am looking for opinions on them.

Host #1

Ebay
OdicForce
Rayfoss (on this page it has a 200mW module already in it)

Host #2

Ebay
OdicForce
Rayfoss

Host #1 is ~$6 cheaper
Host #1 seems to be "adjustable" in some way
Host #1 can support an 18650 battery OR CR123 while Host #2 can support ONLY CR123
Host #2 is waterproof and (I think?) has a glass cover which may reduce power. (correct me on this)

How is host #1 adjustable? Would it work with the DX module?

Also, how are 18650 batteries compared to CR123?
Lifetime? Brightness?

Can the 3.0V module even work safely with a 3.7V 18650?

Another thing I would like to ask about is Australian customs. Customs recently intercepted a cheap 1mW pen which I ordered from Ebay claiming they tested it much higher than that. (the store claimed responsibility, I am getting a refund) Would customs be suspicious or care about me importing a host (without a laser inside obviously) after what happened with the pen?

Sorry if I ask something stupid and thank you for any answers.

I think I'll buy the waterproof one from rayfoss, only thing I'm not sure about is batteries.

Would a 3.6v or 3.7v li-ion CR123A fry the driver given the module is rated at 3v?

If so, is it possible to get a 3v rechargable CR123?

I just bought a module from IQS that says 3v, but it says it accepts CR123s. However, I have CR123s rated at 3v, 3.7v, 4.2v... so... I can't tell you much there. If possible, go the safest route and find some 3v batteries.

I'm not sure, but I think, there are 2 versions of CR123: 16340 (3.7V) and 17340 (3.2V). You'll have to check the available space for battery. Protected ones are longer.
