The principle job of customs, in the UK Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs, formerly the inland revenue, is to raise revenue.

Goods bought outside the EU can be bought without sales tax (VAT,) ie duty free, if they are to be exported, but are subject to duty on arrival in the UK.

All countries operate a similar system, the EU is a bit different in that it is treated as one county for sales tax purposes.

Transit countries are not affected, only the final destination.

HI, I bought a true 50mw green laser from DX and when i got it itwas more like <10mw:cryyy: doesn't TRUE mean it's 100% 50mw?? Will DX send me a new if i contact the??? PLEASE HELP.

vasse96, if you read around or asked for help, you would have realized that DX is one of the worst places to get a laser.

Most lasers come from China and I've never heard of that site but will not disturb wild life? You beam it into their eyes they'll be blind and point it at your friend? Then they'll be blind too. Major Safety Fail.
