Personally, I'd try to stick to a laser that uses standard batteries, since if I run out of juice I can always run into a market and buy some more. With the CR2's and CR123's you need to buy those batteries and a charger for them. It's a pain if you ask me :p

o-like laser is not cr123A...

it worth t get a cr123A or cr2 laser instead of a AAA or not? (considering using AAA 1.2V rechargeable batteries)

Well yes and no. There are no apparent benefits of lasers using CRs other than they have longer battery life and can be recharged as to not throw out money with new batts every few days. now a days cr123s can be bought almost everywhere but not rechargeables(they have to be gotten online). as far as 1.2v AAAs i would not recomend them because the output is low. normal AAAs are 1.5v output and special ones that are 1.6/1.7 can be bought for more power. using those rechargable 1.2v mite make your laser dim because the driver can not get enough power(dependent on the laser in question) my viper works rather well with 1.4v rechargeable but not the same as new 1.5v aaa lithiums. Cr123s are typically 3.6v while two AAAs are 3.0v total output so either type would be ok to use but using lower volt batts are not recommended, infact some ppl(myself included) buy 3.7v cr123s at 1000mAh to get a little more power to the diode. but this is all relative, buy a laser that uses batts u have the most access to.

nice! now rayfoss.com is online! (but o-like are offline again)

the green lasers from them have cr123 batteries.

anybody haves a rayfoss laser? are the 200 mW, 150, or 100 mW up to spec? (it's stated +-15% on them, but anybody knows the real facts about this?)

something like this will be good?

alot of ppl have rayfoss lasers and like them alot. this one looks ok but has no divergence listed unless its focusable. they will be slightly underspec but not by much should not be more than 15-20mW off dependent on power ordered. just stay away from the pens...

the pens are the "fat" ones or the "thin" ones? i suppose "pens" are thin and "torchs" are the "fat" waterproof ones. is this correct? what should i get and what should i avoid?

it's focusable function enough good to avoid non-focusables? will i need a focusable one to burn things?

focusable is better to burn because you focus the dot very small and the light is concentrated into that tiny point. pens are thin lasers that look like well pens. get at least 50mW to 100mW for a nice bright laser that burns well, if you plan on getting into lasers more seriously check out dragonlasers.com viper seris lasers, my personal favorite! good luck to you!

From your list, I would go with the O-Like or led shoppe. Rayfoss is also pretty good, the 200mW Focusable I've heard good things about, Hallucynogenyc has a review on it.
But before you go buying, what is it you are after: a laser for star pointing, etc, purposes or for burning?

@kingdave - an alternative to dragonlasers is CNI, same thing (just that DL say they're the manufacturer when they aren't). And Glenn's GB prices are way better.

i am and have been for some time fully aware that dragonlasers and laserglow are a distributor of CNI laser products, i say DL and LG because most ppl specially newbs arent aware of that fact and only know the name of the storefront. and my 'personal favorite' is the overall CNI pen design, and even tho ive never participated in one i am also aware of the deals and quality services glenn provides.
thanks

Re: help me to decide between 3 lasers of 50mw and 1 of 30 mw

Yes that would be an excellent burner, ive always prefered red lasers for my best burners. thought thats is only because they arent as bright as there green couterparts and can be focused smaller without using saftey glasses. Red and green(650nm,532nm) burn the same at the same powers. 200mW of red will cut plastic and light matches very quickly, though the laser is more likely to be underspec(will prob put out around 150mW) keep in mind though that 50mW of green will be substantialy brighter than 200mW of red, so it depends what you want, just something to burn with or a bright green beam shining into space? also reds dont have very visible beams, my 233mW red's beam can only be seen in pitch black or smoke/fog. you may be better of with a blu-ray(405nm) because it is a mix of visibility and burning power, blurays burn better than red or green, so a 50mW bluray will be more visible (beam) than 200mW of red but burn way better than 50mW green.

mmmmh....would you recommend me an specific bluray laser pointer? (i don't want a diy one, too much things to look about...surely i would give up)

or better: i will get 2 lasers if needed.

1 laser for best burning/price without caring of visibility and 1 laser for maximum visibility and quality / price.

so, i am looking for both :D

Ah but it's a one time purchase, it only hurts for a minute.

I hate running into town for anything, yet alone batteries that are gonna die and get tossed.

Rechargeable batteries are dollar for dollar way cheaper to use in the end.:D

Where I live it takes 1/2 hour just to get to the nearest store, $5 in gas and I always return with more than I intended to go after.
