Somebody has to be the mean guy here.
You will NOT be able to build a DPSS green laser at home. Especially not like the Hercules. You need to read some of the "stickys" around the forum. It is a wonderful idea. However, the techniques and equipment needed to build a DPSS laser such as this is WELL beyond most households.

Hey, come on , maybe he has access to machining tools, is a fast learner and some electronics experience. ;D
Well in case you are and have all of those, and some money, you'd need to buy:
Nd:YVO[sub]4[/sub] crystal of decent size
KTP crystal of decent size
(or maybe a YVO-KTP assembly, less work)
huge-ass 808nm diode
something to drive the diode with, maybe flashlight drivers from DX :-/
batteries
aluminum
Lenses (probably one lens for the diode , an expander lens after the KTP and a collimating lens after that, with proper coatings)
other parts (like a switch , a key switch , etc.)
Maybe a TEC and a fan wouldn't hurt with suck a big laser.Maybe a C-mount diode on a TEC with a heatsink and a fan cooling it would be a good idea.Then make mounts for the crystals and try to align them properly with the diode(this is the part that everyone says it sucks).

One way you could "build" a green laser is to buy something like this: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10094 and set it up in a host with a switch. You could also build a matching red and violet laser in the same hosts, which is cool if you want to have 4 of the same hosts projecting photons, (one being a flash light).
This sku might get you over 15mW, but ultimatly won't be "very powerful".

I've got a better idea, you could buy this And remove the module from the heat sink, and remove the front lens and place them in another host. That or you could keep the heat sink but use a lathe to make it round shaped and then put it in another host. Supply it with 5-8-6.1V and you'll get about 50-60mW.

Or take the DX200 chop it up and keep only the module and put it in a good heatsinked body with a good driver and bigger batteries.Maybe it would work properly then and actually be 200mW Oh, and add an IR filter. :

I was going to say that actually, but I wasn't sure how good they were =/ maybe they are better with good heatsinking ... who wants to test it ?
