do you mean that wicked lasers is bad for buying the first laser or generally? for purely money reasons or what?

Thanks, I'll add DIY. But I'm leaving BABL because it's a green laser guide.
DJNY: Not just your first, any laser. They have some good quality designs, but they charge way to much, and the lasers are underspec and unstable. The 60mW BR is $2000! However, it does seem like they're trying to start over, as the latest laser has been better, FDA approved, and with safety warnings all over it. But I still wouldn't recommend it.
regularguy: The lasers have not been tested yet, so I don't know if they are up to spec. However, price wise, I would say it's a scam. Thanks for the site...

dont know what to say about Alex laser other than the fact that im pretty sure it was not 200mw i think it was the 120mw green pointer from o-like with an Alex laser sticker...
the bad... it got extremely dim after one day of use, and will no longer pop ballons or melt plastic :yabbmad: (if anyone knows how to fix this please let me know, and yes ive tried new batteries)
the good... I sent them an email telling them the problem and they sent me a replacement which has not broken yet... though i still feel i got burned

Is it a good quality laser? At least they have good customer service even if the laser sucks...
If you bought an LPM you could probably get a refund for the underspec laser.

It feels pretty solid and it has a good weight to it. Other than that Idk.

This thread says to stay away from techlasers and WL but they both seem like they are high qulity and are pretty pricey, whats up? My techlasers 95mw burns and seems up to speck, also it has an ir filter and low divergance, good build quality, but people warn away from it. weird

1. Techlasers has proven to be an inconsistent company. I know you may have gotten a good one, but the percentage of bad ones is high enough that I wouldn't recommend it.
2. When a laser is "too pricey", I consider it a scam. Would you pay $100 for a high quality 5mW? I know that that's an exaggeration, but not too far off. The techlasers 95mW is $230. The Novalasers X100 (which should be very overspec anyway) is the same price. Plus, novalasers sells much better quality products.

Cool, when you put it that way, unless a 5 mw laser is covered in gold im not going to buy it!!! ( they actually have one out their, but its not WL ):tsk:

To be honest, except for presentations ( and even then its a little much ), I really dont see much point in having a gold plated laser.

I have a 50mw and I cant look at the dot without goggles or safety glasses?

I wouldn't recommend it. You'd probably be safe with general use, as long as you don't stare at the dot for more than a second at close range. The main reason people don't risk doing that is reflections. At that power, a reflection from a window or glossy wooden table could cause eye damage.
So yeah, if you're REALLY careful, you'll be fine. And definitely no burning or playing with mirrors.
