Hi guys, has anyone tried the rayfoss hosts..

This one!
Rayfoss ONLY $16

What type of batteries does this host take?? plus how easy was it for you to install the module.. what steps did you have to go through when using this host.. eg, bipass switch, etc etc...

Thanks -Adrian

I have the 150mw rayfoss green which uses this host. It is a very nice host. I love it; it is very solid feeling and it is waterproof too! Uses 1 cr123 battery and the module switch would need to by bypassed. Im planning on ordering one soon for my sxd module thats coming in.

Ok cool.. so the module literly just slips into the host and you have to secure it some how.. but then once thats done you just slip in a cr123 and you can start using it (assuming switch is bypassed)?? or do I have to solder positive point?? does it just work by touching the case or is there soldering involved??

BTW nice pic!

Thank you -Adrian

Pretty sure no soldering is required. And make sure to put the battery in negative side first. With the switch bypassed it will be good to go!

i got 3 pcs of the hosts. and I tried using modules like o-like, boblaser, CNI 12mm and also some cheap modules i got from ebay and shenzhen and rayfoss.. well to tell you honestly the host is PERFECT for me... i like the silver one better than the gray one or the black one. im planning to order more on rayfoss and do my PHR BR project with these host. btw, i can get the HOSTS for only 10$ since Faona is so kind to me :p

Hey M - how do the modules "lock into" the hosts with these? I know with the mini-RPL hosts the modules are a pressfit (kinda fussy to get in or out without damaging or misaligning them) and have a retaining ring to hold them in once mounted, are these relatively simple to get a nice tight module seat with?

Which reminds me - Jeff, if you're going to try and extract that SXD from the Mini I sent you, PLEASE PM me for some pointers on how to do it before you tear into it - if you try and "wiggle" the module out of the heatsink you have to be very careful or you can either damage the driver or actually damage the module (they're pressfit in fairly tightly and although some come back out without a hitch it's always best to CAREFULLY press the module out from the rear) All stuff which I can explain how to do correctly if you need the pointers.

Well looking at these pictures i would assume a small ring would be placed around the module and fastern with a screw or maybe some eppoxy.. then the top would just slip on top! but thats all i can get out of those pictures... rayfos really needs to get a faster server and descriptions for their items!

for me what i did, the rayfoss host i have can lock the module, there is this attachment that once you put the module on the host, this ring cap holds the module in place and then will definitely lock the module. Anyway im out of town and i will be back on our house after 15 days, once i got back i will show you guys what i did..

im also planning to do an addon to this host to make it go 100ft below water.

i have already designed one and we tested it 3 days ago and it was a success. but since i went out of town now.. i dont have my files and pictures to show.
