Sup guys I've been looking around this forum for about six months but never really needed to ask anything.

I currently have two overspec 5mw Greenies(about 40mw each), a overspec 5mw Blue Ray(about 40mw), and the #100 Green from ebay (I dont know the Mw but its cool.)

In three months I'm going to be buying my first serious laser (burning, cutting, popping, blinding.) I'm currenty liking Jayrob's hosts but I'm such a noob I couldn't put anything together without breaking things.

In the mean time i want the BEST POSSIBLE green laser for about $50 Bucks.

Things I want for this laser.

  • SUPER BRIGHT BEAM (no faded green crap)(This is the main thing i care about for this laser)
  • Good Divergance
  • No Rattling at all.
  • Good Weight
  • Long Duty Cycle

I want the beam to be solid green at night and I would like to be able to see it in a dim room but I undersatnd $50 bucks is hard to work with.

Anyone who can direct me to some lasers they own and love then I would highly appreciate it. I don't really want you to show me a laser you don't own cause I don't trust %90 of the internet. I know you guys have trusted sites but I would like ones you own and can confirm.

Thanks a bunch guys :)

I'm looking for a laser. And i don't know what mW i just have the list of what i want and the price. I guess the more mW the better but the beam and other things i listed > raw power.

For $50, you're going to have to choose only a couple of those.

Also... battery life is more a function of your batteries, not the laser. If the laser is powerful like you want, it can't magically run longer on given batteries than another laser that draws the same power.

Unfortunately what you're describing is at LEAST a 250+$ laser. Used. The SuperBeast #100's I've heard are rumored to be between like... 50-150mw in some extreme cases... >150mw.

The problem then is what you might be looking for is around 200mw and above. This being said, you have to expect to pay at least 1$/mw when you want semi-decent quality. The higher the quality, the more that 1:1 ratio changes to 2:1.

I think your best best is to save your pennies and maybe look at getting a legitimately more powerful laser down the road...

Otherwise, this is about as close as you're going to get I think:

200mW transformable green laser/adjustable [OLV6200] - $122.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

I'm interested to hear what other people say but I honestly don't believe you have a realistic expectation of money-to-expectations ratio.

Not unless you want to get into Blue lasers... But that's a whole other can of worms.

ANNNND: Even if you DID save your pennies, anything over 20-30mw REALLY needs safety goggles. Anything over 5mw should have safety goggles but the higher you go in terms of power, the more the goggles become necessary.

You're going to have to spend a lot more money if that if you want to get something that is worthwhile.
Of course, I don't know what your idea of a "super bright beam" is. From the sound of it, you would probably be satisfied with anything over 100mW. 200mW would be better for a "solid" green beam, but I can't recommend anything in that power range that costs about $50... because I've never heard of a green laser that actually outputs 200mW of 532nm and costs less than $200.
With a $50 budget, you are going to have to compromise. My advice is save up some more money.

Alrighty looks like I'll just save up. For some reason i have no problem spending $150 bucks on 5 different lasers but saving and spending it at once for some reason makes it not worth it to me. Hahha idk.

I was checking out the 1W Blue laser on rayfoss anyone have it and like it? It's $180 www.rayfoss.com

Also what about the Arctic Spyder 3 or w/e that thing is.

The only thing i truely care about is a nice solid beam. I just want a sick as laser (green or blue) that will last long and have a super good beam.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

If you want a nice beam I would recommend a green 200mW laser. I would just save up or either make your own for harf the price. I am currently making a 120mW green laser for less than £50.

You could get a blue laser but personally I prefer the beam of a green laser. :D

Getting all of that for $50 seems undoable....

The only advise i can give in this price class is getting something powered by lithium batteries. Avoid any AAA powered lasers and take your pick from dx or some similar website. For $50 you sould be able to pick up a nice 18650 or CR123 powered laser in the 50 mW range that works reliably, but do not expect something spectacular on this budget!

Okay well no longer having the $50 limit.

I'll have $150 in the next two-three weeks. So that when someone should buy jayrob's pocket green host and make me a 200mW :OO

Or suggest a good laser for $150 with the list i said in my first post.

Couple of comments:

Go for Green. If it's brightness and color you're looking for, green is the way. It's safer than blue, (There's science behind how our eyes handle blue vs green, etc.) easier to see and while it's more expensive, you don't have to worry about burning your house down LOL

All kidding aside though, I have a 200mw greenie and a 1.4W blue... And while the blue scares me a LOT, I still prefer my 200mw greenie. It's just... there's something about it :)
