Hi all,

I want to buy a 200 mw green laser sight for my rifle from : ARMLASER at armlaser dot com

I did not post link because I dont know if we can on this forum. The description looks good.

Does anybody know about these guys ? Are they legit ?

For me the price is ok. If it works as advertised, I would buy.

Thank you,

James

I am not sure about the company I have never heard of or dealt with them. It looks like a nice sight a decent price but as for a 200mw output if i had to guess i would lean more towards it being under spec but a 100-150mw green laser is plenty bright especially for a gun sight. I have actually been playing around with making my own green sights by buying the $20-$30 laser sights on ebay and putting in a higher powered green module. If you do wind up purchasing it please post back with some pics and tell us how you like it.

Also I don't think you can get in trouble for posting the link unless you spamming the forum

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. When you say that you put a high power module in a cheap laser sight, what power would that be ?

Is it 200 mw or more ?

I wrote to the company who is selling the 200mw sight and asked a few questions. They are confirming that it is really 200 mw output.

I am out of the country at the moment, but when I get back, I will order one and let you know how it works.

I have bought two ( supposed) 800 mw red pointers in Bangkok. They are very bright and can light a match. I plan to retrofit one of these in a 5mw green laser sight one that I got from the US.

At thee moment, I have no way of checking the real output power of my lasers but I am interested in getting a meter for thiis.

I am going back to Bangkok this week and I have my eye on a 1.5 watt blue laser that they are selling for 85$. It burns material (saw it in the showroom) but has a wide beam that does not seem to be focusable (not sure if this is a word or not). Anyway, I will try it out again and decide then.

if i had a true 800mw red pointer i wouldn't be taking it apart and risk breaking it :)
Sorry I used the word high powered but in reality they are not, I am using 80mw measured output module off ebay, its nothing special. Another things is with a green laser even though it may read 200mw on a LPM you may only have 100mw of actual green the other 100mw would be infrared. Did you ask if the used an infrared filter when measuring the laser? Also I dont know where you are from (on here location of members is usually considered important to be in profile) but you may want to watch transporting that 1.5w laser through an airport.

I think I got you, about total power output and 532 nm output. So I guess it would require a meter that is wavelenth specific.
How do I show my location ? I am presently in Laos and moving to Thaïland tomorrow (Bangkok). I will be back in Canada (home) in mid-april.
I wonder where I can get a portable meter that is wavelenth specific ? If it is possible.

What do you even need 200mW for a sight for anyway? 50 should be all and more than you need...

Edit: you don't need a wavelength specific meter, most are calibrated to work in ranges of nm. A lot of members here would be willing to meter it for you if you ship it to them...
