green laser module focus, can one lens be used?

I am trying to shorten the length of one of sandstone's 50mw green modules. The module uses two lenses. One is mounted to the diode and the second is mounted in the barrel piece. The first lens expands the beam and the second one corrects the divergence.

My question is, has anyone removed the first lens and the barrel off one of these modules and used a single aixiz lens to achieve a good divergence?

You wouldn't be able to get good divergence only using one lense, just not possible

It is possible. It's just easier with two.
But the focal length of the lens needs to be correct.
The lens for an Aixiz module will not work properly. The focal length is too short.

It can be done but it just requires a lot of playing around with different lenses.

too short meaning the aixiz lens needs to be placed closer to the diode. That is actually part of the reason for this. I want to significantly shorten a green module.

i have the same plan! shorten a standstone module, to fit it into a host..
from what i understand, if you remove all lenses and have the pumpdiode and the crystalset left, you already have a somewhat collimated beam.. probably really badly collimated, tiny diameter (less than 1mm?), and because of that bad divergence on top of that. but much better than an uncollimated diode!
so basically you have two lenses in front of it, to collimate it to nearly parallel, and to make the diameter larger for better divergence.
..which means you can take a wide range of combinations of lenses, almost any combination works, it will just make the resulting beamdiameter smaller or (much) larger..
with only one lens in front of the crystals, you more or less keep the (too?) thin beam, can collimate it as good as possible, and will keep the low divergence.
there are green modules out there with less than 20mm length, compared to the 30-40mm in common modules.
