Hi,
I am new member and I am looking for the following:

1) Green Key Chain laser that is as SMALL AS POSSIBLE
2) It has to have a constant on/off switch
3) I would prefer it to be shock resistant and very durable.

Does any one have any suggestions that fulfill these 3 check points?
Thanks and let me know!

Key chain, shock resistant and durable are never found in the same laser unless the word not comes before.

Well, if anyone knows of the closest possible laser to fulfilling those requests that would be a great start for me. It must have an ON/OFF switch. I understand that it is only going to be so durable when it is small and designed for a keychain. So size and durability I can work with, but the smaller the better.
Thanks again and let me know!

Maybe this laser?
Laserglow Technologies

It's quite pricey for a 5mW laser but LG's units are very durable and are guaranteed to be <5mW, which means these are eye safe in case of accidental exposure.

Problem is you basically have to go custom so no one can point you in the right direction. Its up to you to find a builder here who is comfortable doing this and sorry to say but most likely won't be 532.

Idk, my galileo (532nm) is pretty tough, could just drill a small hole in the tailcap and add a keychain to it, though its a bit heavy for that. or you could do a small diode 520nm green. both are gonna run you about the same price though.

Thanks for all of the help! My main concern with all of these suggestions so far is that they are all roughly 4.5". The red laser pointer key chain I have now is only 2.5" or so. Does anyone know of a quality green laser at this size? Again, constant on/off is a MUST. If not, what are some of the best companies for a custom order? What can I expect to pay for a custom order?
Thanks again,

Thanks!

I do have one laser that fits the description now that I think of it. Take a look at this:
100mW 532nm Green Laser Pointer Pen with 1 * 10440 Battery (Black) [8575234],Laser Showcase,18650/17670 Flashlight,16340/CR123A Flashlight,Green Laser,Blue Laser,Red Laser,Laser Accessories,Violet Laser Pointer,Wireless Presenters,Flashlights,LED Lig

It dosen't have a Constant ON/OFF switch but it might be as close to what you are wishing as possible. I bought the same one way before joining LPF and it worked fine. Be aware it won't be anything near 100mW.

Most green lasers aren't as small due to the way that they are manufactured, they are much more complex in construction, and generally have much higher power requirements, thus needing a bigger battery for anything close to a useful lifetime. A few exist, but most of them are not very good. better to have one slightly bigger in my opinion and have it dissipate its heat and such correctly, especially if it is constant on and needs a relatively long run-time, or it'll have a short lifespan.

IMO these CR2 keychains are perfectly nice, Jayrob is selling them.

They´re very high quality. You might ask a builder from this forum to put you in a 520nm diode.

^^^ DJNY has a CNI-PGL-A 532nm module in the keychain host mentioned above. Check it out here, it's built by forum member Lazeerer,

phi's pocket 150mw 532nm keychain

maybe you could fit a cheap module into jayrobs keychain host kit. If you where looking for a cheaper pen sized host with a rear clicky you should check out the MXDL pen.

80 lumen MXDL 1X AAA

If you are going to try fitting a 532nm module into the MXDL pen than you will need to use a shorter battery like a 10280.

But personally I would go with DJNY's decision and get a builder to build you a 520nm in jayrobs keychain host kit.

Here is my end goal with this laser. I am going to be using it on the golf course so I would like for it to be safe on grass. Will anything stronger than 5mw risk killing the grass if it's pointed at the ground for too long?
Thanks guys, this is all great help!

it won't hurt the grass. it would take something very powerful to do that. but legally you can't use something more than 4.9mW in public for safety reasons...

why do you need a laser on a golf course...I've never needed one...you'd have a hard time seeing it in the sunlight.
