^^ if you had a chance to look inside( whick I know you have NOT, since you thought it had a spiro in there--lol) you would see that the parts you have above would not work easily. that mirror would not work at all. How do you plan to switch it off and change it from 'bouncy' to stareffect to pointer??

AND you left out some of the parts and it would most likely fall apart quickly- ALSO I know where to get them for around 10$--CHECKMATE!

You sound like NOOB quoting prices of parts and asking why thing are so overpriced.

sorry mark you lose.(again)

I don't know if you two are close enough to be at that stage where you can take friendly shots at each other like that, but that seriously looks like your baiting him for a flame war. :tinfoil:

I first noticed this laser at an outdoor festival up in Maine, summer 2011. Mind you I've always thought laser pointers were cool and I'm familiar with big outdoor lasers that do liquid sky as well as how the usual 2-3 color retail club lasers look. Well, someone way on the other side of this location was shining a beam around and I was like, WHAT IS THAT!! It definitely wasn't an outdoor laser measured in Watts but I could tell it was handheld and for that it was extremely bright. I met the guy later that evening and he let me mess with it for a minute, and I knew I had to get a Disco Laser.

Several months go by and I receive one in the mail. (I didn't order it right away.) It's bright, but not as much here in the city with all the glow. So I installed a 100mw beam and that did the trick. I tested it with a friend who lived a couple blocks away and, with me standing on my porch, the beam was visible at his house shining at a low (almost horizontal) angle, though it is not visible shining straight up. I can put a bright dot on the water tower about a mile away. (That's a "spot" to be more correct; the beam diverges and a dot would be too small to see.)

As others have noted the other beam path is not a spiro but a spring mounted mirror. I actually think it's much better than a spiro. The movement is generally elliptical but it's modulated by the motion, vibration or rotational input to the host. This means you get constantly changing, irregular patterns involving momentum and resonance which you control by the way you manipulate the host. I can paint patterns on distant tree lines or the ground well ahead of me, with plenty of control. It takes some practice, of course, which for me came easily because I found this to be the most addictive toy I've ever played with.

I don't find this to be "cheaply" made, as though it'll just fall apart or break. It's made of plastic and fits nicely in the hand. However, after many drops I did ultimately break the 100mw laser element.

I'd really like to find the designer of the Disco Laser housing because I have some ideas on how it can be improved for live performances.
