I bought a laser and it eats batteries withing 5 mins it's 5mw. the seller was named "Black" I believe..

Anywho my teacher brought the same one but his was different. And his ussed aaa batteries too. But i played with his all evening and its not even close to being dead.

He said he got it for 6 bucks at amazon too.

If anyone can find me a decent, bright, long lasting, 5mw sturdy laser I'd be very glad :/ the highest price i'd pay is 10$.

I dont know alot about lasers but I just want a good 5mw green laser.

Much help would be apreciated ^ ^

Amazon and ebay only btw. or if anyone got an extra laser and would like to give it to me I'd be very happy :D

Almost every pen on ebay and amazon id the same china new wish style. They are all overspec even if they say 5mw and all have IR leakage.

What is most important to you price, life, true 5mw?

Every ebay and amazon green laser is the same crap made in china. All cheap $10 green lasers are the same. Bad life not 5mw lots of IR you name it.

Green will be the brightest to the human eye and you best chance of seeing a beam with low power.

The problem with green is most of them are whats know as the "new wish" style. For cheap green it is really a roll of the dice.

Good luck

you can't buy a high quality one for that price, and any cheap stuff will be overspec and/or lots of IR

Why is it that people have all these demands when it comes to a products quality but they are only willing to spend 10 dollars.
You want a "decent, bright, long lasting, 5mw, sturdy, pen style, that will last all night without eating batteries" But you wont spend more than $10 on it. You are going to need to lower your expectations for 10 dollars.

I have to admit, I like the WL core. If only it had a clip too. IR filtered, <5mW, very stable, been running it on eneloops since I got it, hasn't died yet, infrequent but daily use for a few weeks.

I had a generic 2xAAA pen laser, same problem as you, alkaline batteries would power it for all of 5 minutes before I had to get new batteries. Apparently, 1.5V means "dead" to this laser.

I bought a 10440 lithium cell and made a spacer out of some PC power cable and a couple of screws as "end caps."

The result of this mod is that the laser now sees a voltage source of up to 4.2V instead of 3.2V. This is an extra volt that, depending on the driver, may or may not fry your laser, so only try this if you are willing to take that risk (and hey, for a cheap $5 or $10 pen, why not)

I got this one eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices worked awesome until it broke... btw it lasted for 6 months but if it does break it makes a great host for a 50mw green DIY 50mW 532nm Green Laser Module :D
