Green 5mw laser pointer problem

Hello, i have this strange problem with my green laser pointer. So, when i use it the dot is very bright at first. After a while the dot is so small. What could be causing this?

maybe a problem with the driver.. but i think your problem are the batteries. ;o

Problem is you bought a crappy laser and its normal. It isnt a problem, its normal. Buy crap and get crap for performance. Welcome to lasers, lasers are NOT cheap

Hmm strange, when it heats up then it works perfectly.

do you use it out in the cold? its normal if its a bit cold they need heat up before work proper.

Normal. These lasers work best within a specific temperature range.

hard to say without a video but if performance is better when warm it sounds like it's just a result of the DPSS process and it being particularly unstable on your laser. On all my DPSS greens I see a short burst of power when I first push the button and then a reduction, much worse if cold, but only really noticeable on the pen lasers. Higher quality lasers don't seem to be affected as much and can still be quite stable.

Oh, just changed the batteries and it works without needing to warm up.
