Green 5mw Ebay Laser arrived today!

and within an hour, I decided to take it apart!

Now, my inital plans was to mod it or "pot mod", i got the circuit board out and everything, but it simply does not have any screw to loosen..

I took two pictures with my phone to show you guys both sides of the circuit board..

Sorry for the bad quality, it was taken with my phone.

I just want to be able to burn a match, or pop a balloon or something cool. I already have another green laser,which is more stylish than the ebay one.

ok hello john here pot modding that laser will be difficult especially when theres no pot but even if there were a pot you would be looking at a 25% - 100% increase or about 10 mw for a 5 mw in order to burn a match youll need 75 mw or so , you can make your own read the faq
or buy one already made or buy a higher powered green from nova dragon or optotronics now i'm going back to bed

I dont think I can spend more $ on these green lasers, I have already bought 3, one crappy ebay one (this one) and two other nice ones which I wont damage by taking them apart..

I dont mind if its difficult to mod this one without the pot, but I can't seem to find any instructions...

well its just that those cheap ebay units are already at thier limits so to speak but i know theres a lot of you tube showing itcan be done its almost all not trure unless you swap out the pump diode and already had a great set of crytals its almost impossible o-like.com ledshoppe

saying that cost too much and i'll never afford that
well look at me now i'm so in debt i can barely breathe
i have spent about 4,000 on lasers i knew i had to have
and may spend another 1,000 on friday because blue is so dang perty

I see...The price doesnt seem too bad, 25$ with free shipping..

how much was the discount code worth for?

is it really 50 mw, and not just a tweaked ebay one, because the only difference between the picture and the one I have, is the battery housing is silver, while mine is black, otherwise its the exact same looking..

OUCH! haha,

I think I would rather much enjoy spending 4000 making my car faster!

Cool that would be great.

So is there nothing I can do with this ebay laser? I dont care even if it lasts for 10 minutes. Id rather enjoy that 10 minutes instead of just not using it ever...

my 50mW came from budget gadgets - i used the meter you sold me, it's only outputting 45mW

You probably broke the connection between the driver and diode.

But always be careful with a green laser that does not work. And avoid the temptation to look for light coming out of it with your eyes. Use a digital camera. Especialy with greens that were dropped and stopped working. Internal parts can move and let out ALOT of infrared. And it can come out at odd angles from the normal laser.
